What do you reckon?

I thought that if we didn't sign a couple of strikers and a couple of creative midfielders that we would go down. Assuming that we sign Nicolas, Jarrett and Karekes, do you think we'll stay up?

Well we will have a better chance thats for sure.

Bung in the quality loan signings and we have a good shout.

I think we'd have stayed up anyway.

If Nicolas and Jarrett sign I think we have a very good chance of surprising a few teams and finishing quite comfortably away from the relegation places. With a couple of loanees as well (Luke Moore please) then we could be in for a relatively successful season especially if we can recapture our home form again.

We will find it bloody murder early on but will come good in October/November when McGhee starts working his fiendish magic.

Really? Without any new signings we'd struggle. Imagine if Leon Knight got injured and was out for five or six weeks. We didn't score that many last season and it was mainly due to our tight-arse defending that we got into (and through) the play-offs. The defence will get really stretched next season, cos there's a lot of decent sides around, probably more than last time we were in the 1st Division.

What had concerned me for a while is that there was no genuine competition for places in the first team. if hart or jones played shite, then there was only really piercy who could come in and take their place, and he normally looked unfit or like he couldn't be arsed. with (hopefully) jarrett and nicolas in the squad then everyone would have to be on top form all the time.

we also needed a big striker to replace iwelumo. no matter how big a clown he was on the deck, he gave us an aerial threat that scared the hell out of most defences last term and we could do with someone similar this year to complement knight and/or molango. i don't think mcphee or robinson would give us enough strength in depth up front.

Reckon we would have stayed up last time had we not had Hinshy - don't blame the guy, shouldn't have had a rooky boss, with a weakish team, in one of the hardest divisions.
But this season - reckon we'll stay, not by much, but enough.
That's strangely optimistic for me actually - think the euphoria of cardiff went to my head...

you may still need a few division 1 qualty players

IMO we dont, if we just wanna stay up then we have that now I think. Bring in s couple of quality div1 players and then you're talking mid-table/higher finish.

With 2 or 3 loan signings I see absolutely no reason why we couldn't have. I think McGhee has instilled a fighting spirit in the side and we have become very mean defensively of late and with Leon scoring the odd goal and with decent home form I think we could have done it (just). Plus I think we are better than Gillingham, Crewe, Derby and QPR.

Yep, I do tend to look at the team in a blindingly optimistic manor sometimes.

we've got a reasonable chance.

I have feeling that knight may struggle in this league - especially if we use the hoof tactics that dominated last seasons football.

If we win more than 2 away games all season, I'll be amazed.

If last season is anything to go by (playoffs excluded) we're going to be in for one very dull season, dull in the sense of the football we play

However, we've "only" got to tred water in Div1 for 3 years until Falmer is built, and then we'll be fine :)

Nicolas and Currie are no better than what we've already got and would be a waste of resources, .

Errrr, ask Chelsea fans what they think of Nicolas.

I think we will stay up whether or not we sign the triaslists.

I would say Rotherham, Crewe, Milwall and and Preston NE (particularly if they sell Fuller) will struggle more than us.
