Newcastle were reported as keeping an eye on the Solly situation before he signed a new contract, but believe that’s ended now.
He was reported as saying that he has no interest in moving to another EPL club but may move abroad towards the end of his career

What I'm more concerned about is the succession planning for when these players move on. When we lost Bissouma we had Caicedo who had been playing regular first team football for a year and a half. Mitoma had regular minutes under his belt when he became the full time replacement for Trossard. Mac Allister, White, Sanchez all had had similar first team exposure before joining our first team.

But now, with the exception of Kozlowski (and maybe one or two I've forgotten) most of our next generation are not playing regularly but just warming the bench with a few minutes here and there. Sarmiento, Enciso, Buonanotte, Ayari, Moran, Gilmour. For most of these I don't understand why they're not out on loan, so they can fill in seamlessly when we do lose first team players. There seems to be a departure from our previous player development strategy.
Mitoma and Trossard both began their time with us just getting last 20 minutes or so, Trossard in particular didn't really look as good starting as he did off the bench for a long while. Sarmiento is getting that 20 minutes or so fairly often, the others you mention a bit less so, only Moran I think would possibly have been better off out on loan, maybe Gilmour, but we do also need cover for injuries and suspensions.

I don’t know why but I have the impression that we are geared up for one big sale each summer to balance the books. We can point to Bissouma and say the grass isn’t always greener etc. We can also point to Ben White and Trossard who will probably end up with League winners medal. Who knows, Cucurella may end up with a Champions League medal.

Ale Mac this summer and Caicedo next year is my guess. Or the other way round!

If there is one big money sale I think we would sanction it will be MacAllister.

Not that I want it to happen, but I can see a situation where we feel we may get a premium due to the WC winners medal and we will have a senior player returning from injury, Moder who can do a similar job (ie both very clever at finding space, accurate short poked passes, keeps us ticking over type player).

We've nobody who can remotely do the job that Caicedo or Mitoma or Ferguson does for us, so I think we would resist those sales for nearly any money.

What I'm thinking is that any clubs interested in our players will be told that we only sell 1, or at a push 2, players per window. Therefore, their bids will have to come in early (and be very large) to get one of our players ahead of other clubs looking at the same player or other ones. Say someone bids high for Mac and he goes, someone else coming in for Mitoma now has to pay even more as we've reached our limit on sales for the window.

Adingra may be Mitoma replacement, Ferguson we have barely begun with, we are used to not having him in the squad, but Welbeck is the alternative there, when fit, Caicedo most likely replaced with Ayari.
No need for panic, Cucurella had no replacement in the squad, we went and got Estupinan, always nicer to have one on the shelf ready to go, but when the shelf is empty, we will go shopping.

Regardless of who leaves: a) I trust in the club to acquire/promote suitable replacements; b) the most important person remains: TB.

Players and managers come and go. Personally, I'm not fussed about what happens in the summer.

There'll be bids for many players no doubt.

However, players want to play at top level and in Europe.

So, if we qualify for CL then most players will WANT to stay and the club would hold all the cards. Any bids would have to be ridiculously silly :D
If Europa league, less so but still a pull for some players.
And that all probably limits bids from other CL qualifying clubs.

If we don't make Europe, then there may well be 2/3 that will "want" to move to a club playing in CL.

At this point I'm still enjoying having all the big guns and hoping(hoping not necessarily expecting) that Ally Mac and Caicedo will still be with us next season.

So players that we could lose could be:

Sanchez. If he doesn't regain his place I'd expect him to be sold. It makes sense for both parties - he doesn't want to risk his place in the Spain squad for too long and for us he's a player we can get a decent fee for while not missing him(in that he's not playing in the first team rather than he's not any good).

Gilmour's future interests me. He's a player with a fine reputation from his time at Chelsea and with Scotland but he's had hardly any playing time with us and struggled at Norwich last year. He's another player that we could get a solid fee for(at least what we paid to get him) while his loss would not impact the first team.

Lamptey could be another whose sale would bring in money without affecting the first team too much. I don't want to lose him but he came to us to get game time and this season hasn't had a whole lot of it. Of the three I've mentioned he's the one I'd be most reluctant to sell.

If selling those three meant we didn't need to sell Caicedo or Ally Mac then I'd be on board. I reckon we could get 50-60m or so for them.

I think we're not so much a selling club as a selling at the right price club. Factored into that is how much RDZ wants to keep a player, remaining length of contract and whether the purchaser is a direct rival. We don't have to sell anyone and only will when our valuation is met. Whether that's Mitoma, Caicedo, Mac, Ferguson or someone else is irrelevant. As usual Uncle Tone holds all the cards.

A DULLARD posted yesterday that the club made a profit in the latest accounts. That money needs to be invested IMO in moving us up from the bottom of the EPL wages list. Increase our key players' wages and that may encourage them to stay. Most players will leave when a club offers them 3x or 4x what we are currently paying them.
We didn't make a loss (I nearly put "made a profit") because we sold players. There isn't money slopping around the system waiting for us to inflate wages. If we need the cash to do that, it will be at the cost of accellerated player sales/churn.

Last summer we sold Bissouma, Cucurella, Ostigard and Maupay - all within six weeks of each other
I was kind of refering to first team players. Ostigard and Maupay weren't first team players (Maupay had barely played in the second half of the season)and then Cucu went for mega money...
