[Albion] Will we get ravaged in the summer?

Not a day seems to go by now without a media outlet linking one of our stars with a big money move.

Without a doubt we have some talent that are destined to move on in the coming years. I hope that with European qualification we could hang on to some for a bit longer, but it's going to be hard. In my eyes we have the following players that will most definitely be on the radar of the biggest clubs in Europe this summer:

Caicedo
McAllister
Mitoma
Ferguson

Also just behind them are:

Estupinan
March
Sanchez

I expect big money bids for at least 2 or 3 of those first four, if not all. I'm guessing Caicedo may have been given some assurances that we won't stand in his way of a megga move if the price is right. McAllister has publicly said he is happy in Brighton, but what if Real Madrid or Manchester United came calling with £80million and a triple your wages offer?

I've enough confidence in Bloom & Barber to do the right thing, but where could we end up if they all attract big bids? Our succession planning is working at the moment, but with that model surely we don't have the replacements ready should we loose more than one or two of them.

If Caicedo was sold and the club decided we couldn't afford to loose anyone else, how would team spirit be affected if we refused to sell a few of the others? Where would we be if we lost say Caicedo, McAllister AND Mitoma in the summer?

I really hope we could pursede Mitoma and Ferguson to give us another year at least.

I know this probably gets discussed to death in other threads, but what are peoples thoughts on just how many we could loose and still remaion an upwards trajectory?

I’d be very surprised if we lose more than 2 from that list. They all have longish contracts and Mitoma is likely to get a lucrative extension very soon.

If we qualify for Europe, I’d then question whether we’d lose more than 1.

my only concerns would be Mac and Moises, the rest I think we will keep hold off.

If we manage to grab Europe it will certainly help regarding all of them

dont usually see teams lose a lot of first team players over the summer. think the promise of champs league football will be strong but only really MacAllister or Caicedo will get that. others will get interest though i hope can be persuaded to stay. there's lessons from Bissouma that the grass isnt greener.

Not going to worry about it……seen enough careful management of the club and succession planning in the last year or so to leave it to the wizards in charge. Any that leave will be going for huge sums to huge clubs, and we’ll have a plan.

A DULLARD posted yesterday that the club made a profit in the latest accounts. That money needs to be invested IMO in moving us up from the bottom of the EPL wages list. Increase our key players' wages and that may encourage them to stay. Most players will leave when a club offers them 3x or 4x what we are currently paying them.

Yes we will undoubtably receive bids but that doesn't mean we have to sell. We may well lose one or two, but would be surprised if it was any more than that, particularly if we qualify to play European football next season.

Two name you mention on your list, Solly March has just signed an extension to his already lengthy contract, that could well put any potential suitors off and l have a feeling that, like Dunky he could well end up being a one club man through his career, and Rob Sanchez, if he attracts a sizeable bid l'd be tempted to take the money, he is our number two keeper at the moment anyway.

“Until recently I’ve been working on the theory that I really need to bathe in the fruity goodness of this season because this might well be as good as it gets. It felt nailed on that the big clubs would be forming an orderly queue in the close season and we’d be looking at a very different squad come August.

Now I’m daring to dream a little beyond August. The club’s excellent work in lining up new deals for Mac Allister, Caicedo, Lallana and Solly suggests we are serious about keeping this squad together by forcing any suitors into having to offer truly eye watering sums.

It just feels like the club is going to try very hard to keep as much of this squad together as possible, at least for one more season. That’s not to say that seriously silly money won’t be offered to test that. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Newcastle were reported as keeping an eye on the Solly situation before he signed a new contract, but believe that’s ended now.

Chelsea are after a new keeper. Sanchez had been linked (along with Raya) as they want a certain type. Wouldn’t be massively surprised if Leicester or / and West Ham enquire in the summer.

Mitoma had regular minutes under his belt when he became the full time replacement for Trossard. Mac Allister, White, Sanchez all had had similar first team exposure before joining our first team.

But now, with the exception of Kozlowski (and maybe one or two I've forgotten) most of our next generation are not playing regularly but just warming the bench with a few minutes here and there. Sarmiento, Enciso, Buonanotte, Ayari, Moran, Gilmour. For most of these I don't understand why they're not out on loan, so they can fill in seamlessly when we do lose first team players. There seems to be a departure from our previous player development strategy.

Think that’s already happening. Since the accounts are from last year and recently there’s been a lot of contract activity, your wish may have been granted

Since almost every departure of recent windows has been replaced with a better player, I am not so concerned.
If we don't have extra games next season via European competition, we probably need to let one or two go, just to make game time for the lads that are already under contract.
We have Moder, Alzate, Kozlowski, Buenanotte, Enciso, Ayari, Gilmour, Moran, Sarmiento, Adingra, and others that I would like to see a bit more of.

There’s Adringa doing very well at USG.

I think part of the big change in our loans is down to RDZ. He’s said previously that in some cases it’ll better for the players to stay and train with our first team squad. Which I think makes sense given the way we play.

I don't think we will be ravaged in the summer. We may get speculative bids for MacAllister, Mitoma etc, but I don't think we will sell someone we don't want to unless we're not in Europe + we've been offered an unbelievable amount + we're confident we have a replacement in the club or we can source one
