Just got out of hospital after being involved in an RTA while on a Motorbiking holiday in Wales. Accident was my fault; overtook lorry but couldn't get in front before meeting a car going the opposite way, and have admitted liability with insurance company. Yet haven't had any contact from Police?
It happened 6 weeks ago and I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever contact me or maybe they feel sorry for me and just want toforget the whole thing?

Anyone been through the same sort of thing?

Am i going down?

my step-son was involved in a motorbike accident (victim) and the police didnt contact him until about 2 1/2 months later. they told him that there was a deadline of 3 months in which they (the police) must act. not much help to you i'm afraid Eggmundo. if it is your first offence then i doubt you will go down. they may chop your left hand off though :bigwave:

proper smash, lying in the middle of the road jobby, bike in half (sob) 2 smashed femurs, fractured back, seperated pelvis, broken arm. Currently stuck in a wheelchair with back brace, not great but better than being stuck flat on your back in Swansea!
So in short, police attended scene but didn't really speak with me....I'm really worried about this!!!It's all i kept thinking about in hospital (oh and if i'll ever walk again :D )

Ouch. Hope all gets better ok. At a guess it sounds like an accident, I can't see what they're likely to want to talk to you about.

Have you thought of ringing them, if only to put you out of your misery?

It would be classed as a serious injury accident, but although it may have been your fault, it may be that they decide to take no further action on the grounds that you were the only one to ultimately suffer, and presumably your insurance etc was all in order.

Call them and ask if you're worried. Might be an investigation still going on, but at least you'll know.

It is three months and they do normally act on it so surprised they havent been in touch - from their viewpoint its an easy crime statistic "solved" - points on your licence and a fine for careless driving.

If it is worrying you then you could do worse than enquire at the local station to find out who is the officer dealing. Whether they are doing something with it or not it wont make any difference you enquiring.

On the other hand you could leave it to 2 months and three weeks and by the time they find the paperwork you will be in the clear.

Glad to hear everyone survived - sounds horrific

Yes, unfortunately I was trying to keep up with the guy in front of me and chose the wrong moment to overtake.
Cheers mate, I definitely realise how lucky I am! It was a nice bike though!Damn shame.
I've still got me 125 in the garage but apparently I've got to walk first.

Did exactly the same thing earlier this year never a good idea to try and keep up with a more experienced rider :nono: Fortunatley I landed in a hedge and got up and walked away. But we know the risks when we get on the machines it adds to the buzz
But hey at least you've got time to think of what bike to get next ! and when you do get up and about seriously think of haveing some advanced lesson it has improved my riding no end

A mate of mine had an accident in the summer, another car involved. he admitted liability and it took the police ages to contact him, (about 3 months?) he had to go to the local police station to where the accident took place, received a caution, 6 points and a £500 fine, all without going to court!
