A big ask to better the original?

To a degree almost setting themselves up.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

This news has destroyed my evening. FFS, is nothing sacred anymore. Evidently WS & KH have such big egos they thought it a good idea when neither has made a decent film in decades. Terrible Terrible idea. I’m writing to my MP first thing tomorrow.

Hollywood's big ideas in 2020 amount to take a classic movie, remove all the white guys and replace them with POC or women.

After reading the shocking news, I hadn’t thought of the virtuous signalling angle but it does seem to have more than a whiff of politics about it. Hmmmmm

Never watched the remake of The Wicker Man but watched the original for the first time recently. What a ****ing odd film. Still don't know what I thought of it.

I saw the remake at the cinema back in the days when I had Cineworld pass and would just go and watch any old crap if I had nothing better to do. It's up there as one of the worst films I've ever seen.

As for Planes, Trains and Automobiles, I'd hardly call the original a classic. I do love a John Candy film but this wasn't one of his best.

Odd? In what way? Really surprised as I think it's brilliant in its slow burning eerieness and menace. One could argue that the creepy and violent undertone of the pagan worship is perhaps at the heart of the oddness that you describe. Great turns from Woodward and Lee and the climax is really disturbing and proof that to be truly scary you don't need gore splattered special effects.

Oh by odd I don't mean "bad". I like "odd" films. Just something about the energy of that film really creeped me out, which is a good thing. Lee is fantastic.

I should've clarified a bit further - I did enjoy the film and agree it has a real slow burn to build of menace throughout.
