Will slade do the decent thing and resign on Saturday, when we lose.

There seems to be a trend on NSC that pro Slade opinions are more valid than anti Slade opinions. Both are just as valid.

Slade did well to keep us up last season no doubt. His record was however mid table as we had an awful start under him.

14 games
6 wins
2 draws
6 defeats
20 points

This season has been an umitigated disaster. He has had £ 1 500 000 to spend and the jury is out on most of the signing is the kindest thing to say. We also have a high wage bill. On money paid and wages we should be a force and in the top 8 in the division.

We have won 3 drawn 4 and lost 9 so his overall record is

30 games
9 wins
6 draws
15 defeats
28 games - 33 points - league games

We have a 50% loss ratio under him.

He appears to be a firefighter. He kept us up but I do not believe he has it to take us forward or get us promoted. Most people would be over the Moon to get mid table with Slade this season. To turn that into automatic promotion next season when we need to win 25 games and get 85-90 points is a long way off. I just cannot see Slade ever doing that.

But there are lies, damned lies and statistics, you can't judge everything by numbers

Those numbers fail to take into account things like injuries to key players such as Murray or McNulty, and then to Jake Wright, (meaning that we have had no recognised left back for a number of games).

How about our constantly changing back four line up due to injury and suspension and show me another team that does well with a constantly changing defensive lineup?

What is our first choice starting XI and how many times have they played together, how long is the longest run we have had with an unchanged line up?

It also fails to take into account that the squad underwent a huge change over the summer, with a large number of players leaving and new ones arriving, alot of what was spent came out from the money he saved from the players wages etc that we got rid of.

I agree that results haven't been good so far this season, but the performances have been far better (bar Oldham) and i believe from what I have seen that yes, Slade can turn us around into a team that will find some form, a consistancy of line up and that will in turn lead to improved results and see us climb up the table and well away from the drop zone.

My view is you should stick to Slade whatever, or at least until Xmas, you'll have a hard job convincing any replacement now that he's got any kind of job-security.

I totally agree with you. To me it makes no sense to change Slade now. I would definitely stick with him for a reasonable time, enough time to build a team. Changing managers frequently is no way to get success.

My original post was meant to be ironic, but you think I would have learned by now.

Yes we have been unlucky with injuries and sending offs. I think we could have easily won at least another 3 home games had a little luck gone our way. But we didn't. Every team has injuries - it was slades responsibility to build a squad to cover these positions (or adapt). The indiscipline is also ultimately slades responsibility. He does appear to be playing better football and doing a little bettter than Adams - but it is not good enough.

In football you can. The team that scores the most goals wins the game. The team that accumulates the most points over the course of the season wins the league. It really is that simple. There are no marks for artistic interpretation in football and no handicapping system for teams with a proneness to having players sent off.

Was that called for? No, it wasn't. Each poster is entitled to their opinions & from reading the threads it looks like that half want Slade to leave & the other half want him to stay.

After the 4 games in November, I suspect the balance will shift very heavily one way or another.................

Steve

My point is that the OPs latest post, as most of his others, was totally negative!

As for you conclusion that 'the balance will shift very heavily' come the end of November that was not the most perceptive insight considering our present plight and who we're playing in that same month!!

Anyway, lets get on with the Goldstone Report which i'm sure you must be fuming about?!

Or is that now out of bounds Mr Balkham??!!
