Twats are away to 2nd placed Scunthorpe today.

Occasionally I take more pleasure from seeing them lose than I do from us winning....

Chatting to a Birmingham City fan the other day and the subject of Portsmouth came up. He was praising their "wonderful" support and struggled to understand why I despised them for cheating their way to "glory" then continuing to cheat in order to retain their "right" to greatness. His initial view was that they had been unlucky but by the time I had explained the second administration, money laundering, and committing to massive signing on fees and wages whilst declining to pay local traders and the St John Ambulance (as one example) he began to appreciate that the Skrill Conference and oblivion would be a more than fitting destination.

Hard work but I feel it is my mission to ensure that as many people as possible understand why clubs who act in the way Portsmouth have and continue to avoid the ultimate sanction are a parasite which will ultimately choke the life out of the game.

Unfortunately there are still too many blinkered fans out there who don't appreciate the true extent of Pompey's repeated financial profligacy and willingness to spend, spend, spend beyond their means, while racking up mega debts.

I suggest there are too many fans across footie who are content to enjoy success, no matter how it is funded - especially the heavily subsidised and artificial existence in the Prem.

CPFC among others are currently enjoying a huge financial windfall and this means their owners haven't actually had to dip deep into their own pockets and deliver on promises. The windfall isn't their money, and if someone pulled the plug most Prem Clubs (plus those on parachute payments) would be well up the proverbial creek. None of them could break even based on their own true net income. It's all too focused on the very short term. There have to be consequences especially for those Clubs who are happy to abuse the system.

But even if Pompey do eventually implode I still think there will be others out there who don't understand why they should be allowed to feel the pain.

Zola? No chance when he finds out they only pay 2p in the pound! Like some others on here I don't want to see them fold. No, just get what they deserve and get relegated out of the football league

I agree. It would be so much more enjoyable seeing them and the self-styled best fans in the world bumping around the Skrill Premier wondering how this is going to get them back into Europe where they need to be.

BTW, can I just say how wonderful it has been to discover that I was not alone in my despising of P*rtsm**th? I honestly believed that that was the case while I was having to report on them on a weekly and even daily basis, and even having the chance to chronicle their eventual demise didn't really make up for it. But now I know you were out there all along and it's a good feeling.

And for me it's not just the financial stuff. For example, when they played Wolfsburg in Germany a few years ago (and lost hilariously thanks to a comical error by David James), the best fans in the world and the media stayed in Hannover because of a shortage of hotel beds in Wolfsburg itself. The night before the game, we heard it had all kicked off in a pub in the city centre. Typical, we thought - the P*mp*y fans had managed to pick a fight with supporters of Hannover - a team they weren't even playing. But it was even better/worse than that. The fight turned out to have been between two lots of English fans from different estates. You can take the knuckle-draggers out of P*rtsm**th ...

Torquay and Northampton really have to up their game a bit to drag Pompey into the relegation dogfight.

With Wycombe winning, we really need Torquay and Northampton to start picking up points more regularly. It would be rather wonderful if Shamir Goodwin and Brennan Dickenson could make that happen...

How very classy of them. If I was having a little 50p bet on it, I would suspect it was Leigh Park v Paulsgrove.

Leigh Park was one of them, but I think the other was Gosport. The Paulsgrove lot had probably gone to Hanover in Brighton by mistake.
