I am sure I read somewhere that if a club either went into or exited admin after the last weekend in March then the point deduction would be held back to see if it would make any difference to the club reaching playoffs/promotion or dropping it into the relegation positions. Didnt Boston do something that caused a rule change as well in 2007? Least they ended up dropping 2 divisions overnight

Honestly. The div 2 sides should take that sh#t house decision to court . So Pompey cheat for years. Rip every **** off that provided services to them, and will be allowed to start on a level playing field with the rest of the division on mich higher crowds giving them an ffp advantage. Sickening.

Just accept it - cheating pays if you're Portsmouth. Next season they'll probably expect every opposing team to play with 8 men and give them a 3 goal start. After all, according to their supporters it's only right that they should be allowed to cheat. Let's hope we never have to play them again.
You don't understand. I don't see anyone else dropping to a division below when it's shown over the course of a season they are not good enough to compete with the other teams in the division. Clearly these "relegations" are punishment enough, forcing Portsmouth to have to compete in such unimportant competitions as "league two" whatever one of those are. It must be really embarrassing for anyone to have to play there. Can't we all just get behind Portsmouth and support them through this trying time of having to play in a division that is where their skill level dictates they should be?!

Hugely different. For a start we had our ground stolen. When we rose like a Phoenix from the ashes, we cut our cloth accordingly and played for years in the lower leagues whilst those such as Portsmouth derided us for being rubbish. Then we were taken over by a chairman whose family connections go way back with the club. He invested his cash into the infrastructure of the club. With Pompey, yes they've been taken for a ride, but each time they've come a cropper instead of cutting back, realising they have an unsustainable club, they've simply tried to spend their money on better players instead of doing anything to enhance Fratton Park. Why should they have had that elevated position in the league and cup competitions? Now it seems that they have also got away with something else. Not good.
That depends on what the future of football is. FIFA have their own vision of the future of football, the corporate nature. If you want a successful future in that sort of environment private ownership is working for most of the top clubs, whereas fan ownership generally = non league. The exception being swansea, and in that instance the supporters trust owns 20%, not the whole club.
In which case the ownership model of brighton and hove Albion is so much more than "a free spending millionaire" as you so disingenuously describe it. It is a fan who happens to have the money to invest, a fan who is also a businessman with an interest in the long term health of the club and a desire to set it up to run as a viable business rather than just pump money into it. We are not some richman's plaything, we are not a cynical attempt from a foreign company to expand their brand piggybacking on the popularity of football or the league we are in.
To compare having a rich fan investing in the club to get it to the point it is self sufficient to the owners Pompey had, as if there has been some role reversal is highly inaccurate.
If all your interested in is terracing, cheap day out watching a bunch of lads kicking a ball around with "proper tackling" whe the only people who show up are die hard fans who can reminisce about rain away days 400 miles from home, then the Pompey model is the way to go.

The easy answer is its an anomaly, or the exception that proves the rule, or that it's a different country, league, culture.
I'm not overly familiar with their structure. A quick skim over a couple of articles suggests it is a rather unique situation due to the history of the club, that it isn't possible to "own" shares, simply sign up as a membership scheme, and that there are factions within that membership already. The club is hundreds of millions of euros in debt and how much to "sell out" to face growing costs is a point of contention within the group, with the shirt sponsorship deal being quite controversial.
