I was a ball-boy the season he was with us on loan for a bit at The Goldstone. That hatrick against Newcastle was one of my first massive buzzes from football, that made me the smittem fan I am today. (There were alot that season too) Mid week under floodlights i think?
I'll stand up for him just for that.

Not strictly accurate!
He never scored a hat trick for us and he didn't play against Newcastle for us either.
Otherwise spot on!

I remember him scoring in front of the North stand against Fulham.

Remember the game - wasn't his cracking goal in front of the North Stand though? Perhaps he got both that night...

Yes it was. 20 yards out and struck one either on the volley or just on the bounce. It dipped in with splendour in what i half-remember to be the 93rd minute. Afterwards, walking darkly to the call that drove us to and from the game, i remember a fella from the North Stand, probably in his 60s, his few remaining hairs sparkling silverly under lampposts, telling his antique friend how he froze with pure delight after the goal went in and couldn't speak a single word for 10 minutes or so. He was happy as larry.

What I remember most about Dickov when he played for us was when he would make a run trying to beat the offside he would run with his arms out like an airplane.

Is the right answer.. and in the last minute too...

It was all the more sweeter as from memory Plymouth had been very negative that night, Peter Shilton was a fantastic goalkeeper but not such a good manager.

That was on my birthday in 1994 and we won 2-1, I thought Dickov scored his cracking goal in front of the North Stand?

Are you sure it was 94? I'm pretty sure, with the wife being heavily pregnant, I managed to get permission to go to the game by arranging for her mate to stay with her, Watched the victory & Dikovs wonder goal.
My daughter was born at home, 3.30 the following morning.
That would make the game on 3/4/91.
My old memory could be playing tricks though.

I think he may have a future ahead of him. Well coached if somewhat physical side.
