As Ian Wright was saying though we need to learn to play a certain way to have a chance of beating the likes of Belgium, Italy or Spain. Six at the back so we don't concede (in theory) and the chance of scoring from counter attacks and set pieces.

Even then surely one of those two holding midfielders can join general play? TBF its not been bad 1st half but at times we still play an awful lot of square passes when something a little more progressive might open things up a bit.

Interesting the amount of punted forward 50/50 balls England play. I’m just not used to see them. Potter has drilled the players not to give possession away so easily. Southgate seems unconcerned.
