Will Danny now stop applauding the officials?

Ref obviously has no sense of humour and booked him for it - mind you he nearly did it again ten minutes later - just stopped himself in time.

It's a sad day if you can't clap a good decision. Bizarre booking.

Some very strange bookings tonight but 3 points so I'm happy.

Its something thats got to be stamped out. Nobody wants to see players applauding officials, its just not on. The tackle from behind has rightly been outlawed now, but I think this new evil of players applauding refereeing decisions has got to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of hand. We don't want to see youngsters copying their hero's by clapping their hands every time the whistle goes.

Thank goodness we had such a well-balanced and sensible referee tonight. Jones is hacked down in the area by a desperate lunge and was rightly booked for trying to make it 4-0. Trevor Benjamin is kicked on the back of the knee and the ref saw right through that as he was clearly asking for it, and waved play on. Then Danny starts applauding and the inevitable yellow was brandished.

Good job Cullip didn't go to shake his hand at the end of the game, or he'd have been off.

I couldn't believe the petulence of the Tranmere players. The No 3 was kicking our boys all night and yet only got booked in the last few minutes. It nipped in the bud so the question is, why did it take the Ref so long?

You are right Lush and a top PERFORMANCE on Southern Counties.

It was blatant dissent by Danny and I'm afraid the joke will be on us if a needless booking rules him out of a key game before the end of the season. You have to be professional enough to work with even the dopiest of refs and not provoke them to be even dopier.

Generally though, we did a great job keeping our discipline given that Trev had someone trying to swop shirts with him for most of the game, Harding received what was very close to a red-card hacking and Leon got what looked like a very snide elbow in the face (inevitably missed by the ref).

How can clapping a decision warrant the same punishment as a late tackle that could have put Dan Harding out for several weeks? The referee was awful:angry:

Well said that man ! The ref should be forced to watch video of the two situations and explain to us why a ticking off for Danny and a sending off for the scally weren't more appropriate punishments

It's just part of Danny's game. He's the guvnor. It's his manor. Like his arms around his opponent's shoulder, just establishing who's boss (like he whacked Onoura within about thirty seconds of him coming on as sub). Some refs probably don't take that kindly to it and want to redress the balance. That's how life is.

That sounds like humour to me. Yellow card.

Someone applauds the ref for a good decision and he's booked for dissent.

Surely dissent means arguing against the decision whereas Danny was agreeing with him.

Picky ref, picky. Perhaps he and Prosser are in a race to see who can dish out the most cards in a season

Oh come on Yorkie, he was being sarcastic but the ref goes and compounds his inept display by booking him. Do the FA really monitor ref ? Hard to believe when you know that Prosser still gets a game.
