The R Slickers out in force :tosser:

Oi, ****ing cheek.
For what it's worth, anyone who believes any of the propaganda defending Cumming, seriously need their bumps felt.
They reported originally that he was travelling so his parents could look after the child, suddenly it became his sister, how did that happen?

Watching the Conservatives scurrying around attempting to defend the indefensible, digging deeper and deeper holes is tremendous viewing.

I have indeed, I don’t mind having a bit of banter with fruit loops like you but that post from Palacefindergeneral is outrageous, it is libellous and I suggest he removes it forthwith. Either that or I suggest a mod removes it for him.

Depends.

If Boris blinks in the next few days, he’s gone.

If he can hold his nerve till Wednesday or Thursday, then the media will sicken of the story and move on.

But will he stay? Possibly, but Boris has proven himself to be a bit of a bottler.

Wow. Just wow.

This country is utterly ****ed. And they’re laughing at us. Seriously, **** this Tory government. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they’ve been caught completely with their pants down here and unbelievably CONTINUE to try and lie their way out of it, gaslighting everyone as they go.

Seriously, **** off.

What part of 'grey area' don't you understand? When they said 'be alert' they meant 'this is a grey area'. Stay at home unless you want to visit family for a private reason. If you haven't knowingly broken any rules then it's fine. It's a grey area, and we have to put our family first. Other options were considered inappropriate at that time. It is all very simple. Mr Cummings was fully alert, and he remains alert. And most importantly he has the full support of the person in charge. And the Prime Minister agrees.

Naturally to a man everything they are currently tweeting out contradicts everything they've written over the last 2 months.

If it actually meant something it would be a beautiful thing.

But as it is, when Dom is still setting policy in 3 years time, all today will prove is just how fudging stupid we all are.

This from the BBC just now : -

Dominic Cummings, the PM’s top adviser, says he behaved “reasonably and legally” when he made a trip to an address in Durham at the end of March to be near relatives.

He says it was because his wife had Covid-19 symptoms and he was worried about childcare if he became ill as well.

The UK Government’s official advice says you shouldn’t visit another property - whether for isolation purposes or holidays.

But in law, the definition of a “reasonable excuse” has never been clear. Read more about what powers the police have.

So in summary , there’s no real proof that he broke the rules as what he did was open to interpretation.

I’m not a fan of this man at all but I can’t see he has done anything wrong as he does seem to have a reasonable excuse .

Looks like labour are using this to try to score political points .

The bloke is a Total *unt. There was a point early on I thought my 90 year old mum was going to die as she’d became ill and that I would never be able to see her again. Like many others I still stuck to the rules. If you cannot understand why people are angry about this elitist @rsole doing what he likes and ignoring the rules then, at best you are out of touch with reality, I don’t want to say what the at worst is.

In certain parts of the community you child is your sister. Especially if you are 'above all that' owing to your superior genetics

Is that all Cummings need do then? Would you accept his apology? Both men here knew what they were doing. Being forced to apologise is insincere and meaningless. I’d rather they didn’t bother.

From a Machiavellian point of view, I’d advise people to never apologise and never explain. It’s a sign of weakness and the sharks would scent blood.

I’m also under no illusions that any MP, whatever the party, does what they tell us to do. It’s always one law for them and one for us, so the fewer laws the better. Fewer politicians the better, too. And Svengali-like advisers.

I might indeed have accepted a (sincere) apology for THIS particular cockup (although once his wife had very publicly lied about it, might have been a bit late to sound sincere). I am old fashioned enough to think that the best phrase to live by in poltics is that 'the truth will set you free'. Mind you, there's plenty of other things which he has undeniably done for which he can rot in hell (if only it existed) quite frankly.

If they brazen it out for another couple of days, it'll be largely forgotten, just like this:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-52154327

Come on, wrong, but not the same...

Added to that this is a man who is at the very centre of decision making within government.

If this was all as innocent as Cummings is now claiming, then knowing the possible ramifications if the story did come out why didn't he come out and tell the story himself...?

Stupid question - he's got his head rammed tight up BJ's arse and will continue to direct traffic all the while BJ is abusing power under Dom's instruction.

This is something else. The Spectator (former editor, a certain ABdeP Johnson) is piling on now

First the Mail, now the Speccy - it should slowly be dawning on the government that this isn't a load of lefties moaning but people of all sides of the political divide are outraged

EDIT: I forgot that Cummings' wife also writes for the Spectator. The fact that they're putting the boot in is not good news for No 10. It just needs the Telegraph to join in and Cummings is toast

Absolutely no chance they will cut Bojo's strings. Unless he can wish and become a real boy then the puppet master must stay.
