So who is stupid enough to still be defending/deflecting/whatabouting Cummings in the face of all evidence to the contrary ?

I can't see how that is the reason... How come all the other mispelled variations of his name which include "Cum" Or "Cumm" rank in the top 20 of the twitter trends, but the correct spelling doesn't even make the listings?

I don't know. I might be completely wrong, but it seems the most logical explanation. Why would you be able to search 'cummings' and get all the tweets about him if twitter is working to cover it up. Simplest explanation is merely that it's part of their adult content filter.

To offer a possible explanation to your point, it would be about efficiency. If you set up a filter that stops 'cum' appearing in the trending topics list, you are preventing a huge swathe of words that are entirely innocent and would cause problems and user dissatisfaction. So it's worth the effort of going through every explicit variant of 'cum' and blocking them individually.

There are far fewer innocent variations of 'cumming', that the effort of listing all the various explicit versions of it, probably wasn't considered worth it compared to the small number of people that would be impacted by innocent hashtags getting accidentally filtered out of the top trending list. These filters would have been set up long before Dominic Cummings was a notable name in UK politics.

It's not a profanity filter issue as these Twitter users are able to use the correct spelling of the hashtag just fine - https://twitter.com/search?q=#dominiccummings&src=typed_query

I don't mean you can't use the hashtag, but that said hashtag won't appear in the trending topics list. If a user chooses to search a porn-related hashtag, you want them to get results so they are happy using your service.

But it is also in twitter's interest to filter adult content out of the trending topics lists or be faced with "my child is exposed to hardcore pornography thanks to twitter's trending topics!" etc. headlines and pressure to censor and ban porn from their site, and that would lose them customers.

1) If he made one trip to Durham as best solution to have child cared for if either of them went down with virus that is exceptional circumstances and a lot of fuss about nothing.
2) If he made further trip after returning to London he is in trouble.
3) if found 2 not true typical of our media and said papers should face hefty fine and apology

Except that they made it worse by instead choosing to double down, demand that cabinet ministers publicly defend him and have Boris say nothing. Shapps has been made to look a complete idiot by Marr without any effort at all. Which means the problem is now bigger than just what Cummings did (which was stupid, but not the end of the world and manageable with an apology, a resignation, pulling strings behind the scenes for a while and then return at some point).

Either very bad management of the situation, or something else going on.

If you've not seen it then I strongly recommended watching Sophy Ridge's complete destruction of Shapps this morning on Sky News.

It was superb.

If 2 is untrue then injunctions would have filed last night.

I'd be amazed if 2 is untrue, the papers can't afford the trial, definitely can't afford the fine and would never want to hand over a single penny to Dom.

It's just about reached the the point now where BJ HAS to publicly sacrifice Cummings to save his own worthless hide. Would expect Cummings still to be pulling BJ's strings behind the scenes tho, where officially or unofficially

You omitted JCFG. The Footy Genius is currently in the building, but hasn't responded to any of this morning's posts or today's front pages as yet. It may well be that The Conservative Campaign Headquarters have told him to hold fire for now.

1) Better than the family that are in town and he can drop the kid with alone rather than confine their kid and himself in a car with his infected wife for several hours?

So I did.

It's entirely possible that most grandparents including many elderly Tory voters in the shires would understand that trying to make sure a young grandchild is properly cared for when both parents are self-isolating/ill is understandable, (certainly not the crime of the century described by Cummings haters) as they would help out in similar circumstances.

The cabinet rallies round ....

I know how ill coronavirus makes you. It was entirely right for Dom Cummings to find childcare for his toddler, when both he and his wife were getting ill.

— Matt Hancock (@MattHancock) May 23, 2020

Taking care of your wife and young child is justifiable and reasonable, trying to score political points over it isn’t. https://t.co/QVkFmKgOsW

— Rishi Sunak (@RishiSunak) May 23, 2020

It’s reasonable and fair to ask for an explanation on this. And it has been provided: two parents with Coronavirus, were anxiously taking care of their young child. Those now seeking to politicise it should take a long hard look in the mirror. https://t.co/fvfvPmlccQ

Caring for your wife and child is not a crime https://t.co/YCXWhKTq28

Will he survive? Probably ..

I was only guessing who would be that stupid, but disappointed I've missed one so obvious :lolol:

Why do you think Cummings hasn’t already brought forward evidence to show he didn’t make the 2nd (and now 3rd) trips that have been alleged?

If he was innocent, why wouldn’t he just clear his name immediately. Eye witnesses in London would come forward, CCTV would definitely show his movements in central London.

You’re kidding yourself. He’s clearly guilty.

Nope, sack and publicly shame him.

Sack and shame Stephen Kinnock, and sack and shame the 14,000 that have been fined for breaching lockdown rules while you are at it.

Send the thousands of migrants that have arrived in U.K. over the lockdown period back where they came from, and shame them for thinking they can just pile into dinghies, cross the channel and burden the NHS with extra demand when we have over 30,000 dead.

The sooner the better.
