Highly unlikely. I think our season will now peter out timidly and without any anxiety. We have a bit of re-building to do in the summer, I don't think any of our big signings last year have done much.

It's a shame, I'm not quite sure what happened but a couple of months ago it seems were we starting to get quite comfy in this division and could give anyone a decent game, but it all rather changed. Low confidence seemed to kick in. Oh well. Never mind. roll on next season.

While I do believe that Cardiff will struggle to win both their remaining games, it's the United game that concerns me most. I'm not sure I can face a nervy last day scenario, particularly if United are out of the running for a top 4 spot by that stage. However, I console myself with the thought that many of their players will be trying to put themselves in the shopwindow for a lucrative move in the summer.

United have Huddersfield this weekend. Win that and they definitely have a chance of 4th on the last day of the season

They'll need to win by 4 or 5 or for Chelsea to drop points at home to Watford to still have a realistic chance of 4th on the final day. Although both scenarios are possible seeing as the Watford game is sandwiched between Chelsea's Europa league semi, and Huddersfield are shite.

I believe 5th place is worth playing for as it gets you straight to the group stages of the Europa league instead of having to play qualifiers.

Most of all, I just believe that OGS will want to win every game he's manager and that the Utd players are pros that aren't going to want to end the season at home against a PL minnow with anything other than a resounding win.

(and Palace will probably get a point or 3 on Saturday anyway)

70% chance of beating palace, 40% chance of beating Man Utd, I estimate.

Albion 99% chance of getting under 2 more points.

So, I reckon we have ~28% chance of relegation.

This tortuous season still drags on and on.

At the weekend, Palace were favourites with the bookies. Now Cardiff are. I don't usually see a swing like this from one to another. Making me feel a bit more nervous!

With Bet 365 we are 16/1 to be relegated but Cardiff are 40/1 to beat Palace & United.

Thanks for the heads up, that 40/1 will be tempting as a safety buffer.

£25 to get a £1000. If we stay up, I'd be elated and wouldn't care too much about losing the money. If the worst happens, I'd be pee'd off, but richer!

Even better if we win one of our games as well.

Good spot. Just had a look at Oddschecker for the odds for the Palace and Man U games, and Betfair Sportsbook have them at 31-20 and 17-1 respectively, so you can actually get slightly higher with £1 returning £45.9 (approx 45-1). Won't make up for the dissapointment, but a cheeky twenty pays for next season's ST and a couple of pints at every home game if we did go down.

Edit: Credit to Nathan for that one.

Edit 2: A betting company called MarathonBet (never heard of them myself) are offering effective odds of 49-1, so you can get yourself a free pie and half time bovril at every game as well.

Just put £5 on at 36.5/1 “just in case” Cardiff do somehow win both. V small consolation.

Did you see them against Fulham? They were ****ing awful. I'll be surprised if they win another game this season - Palace are comfortably better than them, and United are much better than Palace.

The bookies reflect this.

I think they’ll possibly find it harder to beat Palace than United. Palace are perfectly set up away from home against teams that throw everything at them. If they show up with 100% effort they’ll get a result. However, United are shit. If it goes to the last game I’ll be panicking.

The fact Cardiff need to win suits Palace's counter-attacking style perfectly. I'd be shocked if Cardiff beat Palace.

Indeed. I'd be equally shocked if Cardiff beat Man Utd though - Man Utd are only shit by their own standards, they'll be far too good for Cardiff.

Yes - plenty of people decided they're shit because they lost 2-0 to Man City. There are so many different levels of shit.

This is an excellent point re levels of shiteness...

In fairness we thought Burney/Southampton and cardiff etc were shite and look what happened there. However, when you look at Arsenal possibly being shite on Sunday or Man Utd being Shite at home next Sunday that would require whole new level of being crap...
The best teams in the league are comfortably better than everyone outside the top 10, and miles ahead of the bottom 6. When the likes of Man Utd play at home the expectation levels demand a performance and a result and I cannot see anything but a Utd win in a weeks time.
As for us against Arsenal? well they could have additional issues associated with being crap to contend with that include semi finals of Europa cup, limited recovery time, resting players and players being injured/suspended....maybe this is perfect time for us to be less crap than we have and finally shithouse an away performance vs top 6 side?
