Mark Lawrenson always mentions that we outbid Liverpool on transfer fee and United on wages to get him from Preston. Mike Bamber was a man in a hurry and he was going to build top down with managers and squad. Bloom has talked about an Albion for the next 100 years, so it's clearly going to be long-term (£175m) with state of the art infrastructure. The board have got to hold their nerve but realise the prize might be getting farther and farther away as the Prem TV deal gets more monstrously distorted.
