Problem is though, unless we were to get in a man who is actually quite good, and can use the loan market/January transfer window to his advantage, we're already resigned to another season of crap.

The gates will drop below 5000 is changes aren't made somewhere

Why does Wilkins insist on sitting in the stand instead of being down on the touchline? Surely you need a managers presence and face shouting out instructions at his players.

Like i said we should not promote from with-in....for us it just not work....bit worrying Forster 4-games no goals..but like it has been stated already no decent midfield = no chances being created..think Wilkins has had more than enuff time to sort this position out now.....Knights cheap option will cost us i think

Would Knight ever sack Wendy tho?
Yes if he starts to get stick.

In short the reason for the clubs struggling performances are the finances. We need to spend some money to get better players and better results. Frankly asking for the manager to go after three games is nonsense. We need some stability, not constant change. Anyone who thinks that in a division with some quality teams in it, who have either spent money on players or who can afford to pay wages much higher than ours, we will be in the top six is deluded. Unless we spend some serious money we will have an average season, so don't blame Wilkins, blame either Lewes DC, or perhaps Dick Knight for being too cautious and not speculating a bit more to attract higher crowds.

Dick Knight has already this week linked the size of the crowd to the quality of performances by Dean Wilkins team.

It doesn't take much to work out that low crowds will point directly at Wilkins future.

And throw in Adam Boyd upfront to Orient. Now, you can't tell me Orient are a more attractive proposition than us, so why the hell weren't these players signed up instead of those that let us down so badly last year?

Wages and stadium. Not difficult to work out really.

I thought he had intended to strengthen there Badger, but has so far been unsuccessful. Is that his fault? Would another manager be able to sign the midfield we need?

I don't think any manager could attract the ball playing central midfielder we need at this level at the moment. But a lot of people on NSC seem to think it is easy to sign such rare players for peanuts.

It has to be his fault. You say he has "so far" been unsuccessful, but we haven't had a midfield for years, and we are now a few DAYS from the end of the transfer window. Even if we do sign someone now, it will only be a panic signing - not the man we need. Sorry, but NONE of our midfielders are good enough creatively. We need at least two in there capable of passing the ball forward.

By the way, Northampton lost at home to Yeovil (minus their best players from last season) today - puts last week into perspective I think......

I suppose these creative midfielders that you talk about just grow on trees do they?
I think you will find it is more difficult than you imagine to attract players to Withdean. The last ball playing midfielder that was any good at Brighton was Currie and that was in the Championship. We are not going to get his quality back here as was shown pre-season. We obviously don't pay enough money do we?
