What's ludicrous about it? I didn't say we WILL win every home game, I said we have a right to EXPECT it. What's ludicrous about that?
I also did say that nobody ever does, and that is the reality - but that we should go into home games - IN THE LEAGUE - expecting to win. I cannot see anything ludicrous about that at all.

Expect what you want, just don't then think that that expectation is in any way logical.

OK then, do you think Wendy sends his teams out with the message 'don't worry lads if we don't win today because we're not expected to'?
I can absolutely guarentee you that doesn't happen. He, and the players, will go into every home game expecting to win, understanding that it almost certainly won't happen, but still having that expection. Are they illogical too?

The team will think they can win, not EXPECT. Expectation would be deemed complacency I think.
If you know we won't win every game then why not be as measured in your response to a draw (a result!) as the manager was.

I thought it was decent performance too. I really cannot see the what the fuss is on here today.
Tranmere are decent team, they were well organised and difficult to breakdown, nippy on the break, and have been on a good run of form of late. We created a few decent chances, forced their keeper to make a couple of good saves and with a little bit of luck may have snatched a win. More importantly seeing as Tranmere are the team we are 'notionally trying to catch' in sixth place it was vital that we did not let them increase their advantage over us. We are 9 points behind with three games in hand, 'the dream' however tenuous is still there.
Given what happened on saturday the late substitutions made perfect sense in terms of keeping the point we had safe. I do not see a problem with that, at least we did not throw it away.

I thought it was quite a good performance. The last game i saw at home as on 5th Jan which was dreadful. Everyone is moaning and it really annoys me. 2nd half was not as good but 1st hald i really enjoyed. I think we were unlucky not to win 1 nil really.
I wasn't suggesting we should have won last night - I wasn't there so I can't make that assumption. My response was more to do with your suggestion that a draw was a good result, and that we should be happy with that.
My point is that I cannot understand why a point at home is a 'good' result. We should never be 'happy' with a draw at home. Perhaps that is over-inflating our abilities, I feel that our expectation levels have lowered if we are 'happy' with a point at home to Tranmere.

Sometimes the manager puts an unduly optimistic spin on the facts to lift the team, more so when that team is young and the confidence needs building. I think that is what Wilkins is doing here.
Tranmere were a good side, tough to break down, very well organised. They were worth their point and it's points like that away from home that have put them in the play-off places.
From a fan's point of view it was dull, with positives and negatives in equal measure. The attendance on what was a dry night tells its own story though.

Thats pretty much spot on. Wasn't exactly pretty to watch but we kept a good team on good form to just a couple of half chances. Elphick should have been man of the match for keeping that lanky forward in check.
With a bit more creativity in the centre of midfield and we would have caused them a few more problems. Cox always looks more dangerous playing through the middle than stuck out on the wing, play him there with Robinson and Bowditch on the wings and Thompson sitting in front of the back four.

Bowditch and Cox did reasonably well in the first half, Thomson and El-Abd battled well and the defence looked solid.
I would imagine that it is better to show encouragement, than lambast the team.
I am sure it is very easy to lose the plot after the Cheltenham debacle, but we put a stop to the rot and drew with an in form play off candidate in the form of Tranmere.
Exactly. We kept the ball well - hence a goo performance but did lack in the final 3rd. It was a bit boring at times but as Chappers says - stay in this div going into Falmer and we'll be OK...

I remember the Tranmere game last season. They looked very solid, hard to break down and didn't offer us many opportunities. It was exactly the same last night. Ronnie Moore is obviously doing a very good job at putting out a side that are hard to beat. They did a good job at it, that's why they are in the play offs.
Perhaps we should show just a modicum of respect for the opposition rather than just assume we should roll over anyone who comes to Withdean

I'm not a fan of Wilkins but I really don't think last night was that bad. They were hard to break down, we did have the odd attacking spell, and with a couple of breaks could quite easily have got a 2-0 win. It would have been slightly flattering, but it was that sort of a game.
Like I said on another thread, I (and I'm sure everyone else here) have seen waaaaay worse 0-0 draws and performances than that.

I thought El Abd played really well last night. But was disappointed in Murray after so much promise against Crewe. I'm looking forward to next Tuesday as it should be a lot more open. Tranmere were a very well organised team and will beat better sides than ourselves (personaly I thought we were going to lose last night so I am not too down about the result).
