Albion coach hails McGhee impact

Brighton youth coach Dean Wilkins feels boss Mark McGhee has worked wonders for the junior ranks of the club.
McGhee's future has been the subject of speculation following the Seagulls' relegation from the Championship, amid reports of boardroom disagreements.

But Wilkins told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He's the best manager we've worked with for bringing the kids in.

"We just try and provide quality players for the club, and Mark's done a great job as far as that goes."

Well done Dean Wilkins.

Lizard, are you listening? :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

Well done Dean Wilkins.

Shit hot, another reason for MM to stay, perhaps even for Wilkins to move up as they clearly work well together.

2 scenarios

1) Mcghee stays - Wilkins commended for being loyal to his left hand man. Mcghee will not forget that.

2) Mcghee goes - and will always fondly remember Wilkins backing him. New manager views Wilkins as a loyal right hand man, whatever the circumstances.

Win/Win

The nine stages of loss or bereavement:

1) Shock: He's going

2) Disorganisation: forgetting details like El Turi and Leon's relative transfer fees :(

3) Denial: I can just imagine Mark tactically out-thinking all those League One managers :clap2: :clap2:

4) Depression: The club is in ruins :nono:

5) Guilt: Did I really start enough threads on NSC saying how I loved my jocko hero

6) Anxiety: What the f*** are Forest and Bristol City going to do to us

7) Aggression: Bloom you cunt

8) Resolution: I guess Wilkins might not do a bad job

9) Re-integration: WE ARE GOING UP, I SAY WE ARE GOING UP :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Hey, even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

I'm not saying you aren't right to be worried or that your view is even gonna turn out to be wrong but at the moment you are beginning to resemble Gene Hackman in The Conversation.

Homage and parody - love it but don't you also need to to a limerick for me now? :lolol:

Wouldn't it be great if once Jackett gets sacked for not even getting to the play-offs, McGhee gets the Swansea job? :)

Any manager would have played the kids as much as McGhee because we haven't had the money to bring in experience.

Kids moving up from the youth team to senior ranks looks great on Wilkins CV, but it doesn't mean those players are ready for the big time. Gary Elphick? Joe Gatting? Jake Robinson? All under-cooked.

The other concern being of course that if McGhee gets a new job elsewhere, will he come back and try to get Deano as his No 2?

It should be as much a priority for Knight to keep the youth management as it is to keep the 1st Team manager. Without money for Harding and Virgo we'd be f***ed.

Wilkins deserves to be a genuine canadidate to take over from McGhee, but I fear he'll be tarred with the Hinshelwood brush.

I wonder about this... didn't someone on here who appeared to be close to the Wilkins family suggest that Deano may not rate MaGoo too highly and that MaGoo staying may force Deano to accept a job offer from Micky Adams????

I have got a feeling Deano is clearing the decks for a proper stab at managing the Albion first team and is doing the right thing by saying nice things about McGee before taking his job.

There is of course the scenario that MM gets made Director of Football, Deano gets First Team coach job, and Hinsh runs the youth set up. I am probably being fanciful, though.....

That could actually be the win-win scenario that sees all parties saving face ?

By jove Jim - I think you've got it.

The longer this goes on the more likely I think it is that McGhee will stay. If he was going to go he would have gone by now.

Maybe the continuing delay is down to discussions around his precise role next season
