Exactly how i saw it a very useful exercise.

The point I'm trying to make is that Wilkins didn't come on the radio and say that it was a useful exercise in seeing what some of the fringe players could do, he came on and said that he didn't know what went wrong.

Also for £25 (although I except that it was half price yesterday) I expect to see the best we have available and be entertained, neither of which I got yesterday. I'm not a STH but I have seen all but a couple of home games this season. Not sure I will bother with the last two though.

Actually, I thought Elphick did OK. The fact that he was caught out for the second goal does slightly tarnish a fairly decent performance. Put it this way - I've seen far worse performances at centre-back over the years.

Butters has no pace, but knows where to stand in relation to an on-rushing attacker, and in relation to the other three at the back. Elphick doesn't - yet. That will come with experience.

He's not going to be ALLOWED to say 'it was a useful' exercise. That's what friendlies and reserve games are for.

If he says that, it implies he has deliberately not put out his best team, and then he's in trouble with the Football League.

Nope, he knows we're safe, and he gave a few players a chance that they probably deserved. It's not his fault if they wasted it, and at least he now knows they shouldn't have future here. Frustrating today, but in the long-term quite useful I reckon.
spot on

i have to know mind if they ever bother to work on switching play , yesterday we tried taking it down the wing but couldn't , so tried to take it down the middle but had no options to do anything with

whereas Donny had a player avaliable for each option we seem set in either one play or the other!

I did not hear the radio but maybe wilkins decided not to say what he thought went wrong only a guess though.

But i think every person who knows a little bit about football realised that we were never going to play the best side yesterday with contracts pending, mind you as long as they are wearing Blue+ White Stripes i don't give a Sh*t who is playing, what i do care about is that they give there all and i must say they did not do that but IMO it's up to the manager to change that around for the next match, we don't need to abuse a young side who have got us to safety this year.

That's the bit which worried me too. It may be honest but doesn't inspire confidence or that he knows how to change things for the better.

I like the bloke & want him to do well and, given time, I think he will, but he f***ed up yesterday big time. I'm not alone in feeling short changed by that shambles of a performance which I wasn't honestly surprised about when I heard that Loft & Frutos were in the same starting line up.

And WTF has Gary Hart done to not even be included in the 16 when Loft & Frutos are ahead of him? There's clearly been a huge falling out but I wish Hawsey would ask him directly why he's not been involved when we were on that crap run just after Christmas and crying out for Hart's passionate endeavour. It looks like he's on his way out and I think that's a big shame.

I have no problem with Wilkins trying out the fringe players and giving some of those who were off form a rest.

The most frustrating thing yesterday was that it was obvious the diamond wasn't working from the first 25 minutes. Everytime we attacked they hit us on the break, down the exposed left and right flanks. This eventually led to the corner, they scored from.

Wilkins was either to stubborn or to tactically clueless to change it.

This is the first season for ages we are not involved in promotion or relegation. We are safe now and it makes no difference if we finish 8th or 18th.

We have a lot of promising youngsters and fringe team players who are out of contract and deserve a chance. This is the ideal time to play them.

Players like Tommy Elphick should get a run in the team now and the experience they gain will be invaluable next season, where we should be making a promotion push.

Potters right, El-Bad was on the right of the diamond. f***ing stupid place to put him. If you are gonna play with those 4 you have to go with this;

-----El-Bad-----
Bertin---Frutos
------Loft-------

Why have 2 ball winners like Bertin and El Abd we needed one or the other not both. Where was Ward we are paying his wages and he would have been better wide right.

Was told yesterday that QPR have released Ward and Rehman could be we are going to sign them full time if not send them back and get them off the wages bill. We do not need them or Flinders or Bakyogo now our season is over.
