Two points of interest...

1. Christian Walton with the unenviable task of trying to keep Man City out.
2. Nick Powell, our January target, also lines up for the Latics.

I saw this fixture in the PL about 15 years ago. Joey Barton scored for Citeh. Jamo in goal. Psycho was manager. Score was 4-3 or 3-4. Won't be that tonight. Cracking day out. Except the Wigan fans (with whom I was sitting) disgraced themselves by mocking Joey Barton over his brother ('does your brother know you're here' - very witty and original, not).

(I did pleasingly manage to wind up a ManUre supporting workmate before the game by telling him I was off to the 'Manchester derby' at the weekend - ho ho ho!).

Come on Wigan football. Give us a goal!

A minor annoyance is that all the media outlets are referring to this as a replay of the 2013 Cup final, without any mention of the fact that Wigan have already played Man City in the FA Cup since then - in the the QFs in 2014, when they beat them 2-1 at the Etihad.

Did we dodge a crock in Powell?

Wondering if he's ill rather than injured currently, so maybe not.

Not enough fans I suspect. I remember when they were in the Premier League a few years ago and they took something like 16 fans away to Spurs on a Tuesday night.

You'd have thought there would be enough locals (on the Wigan database) with City connections for there to be extra demand though. It's close enough to Manchester, the place must be crawling with City fans (and Reds, and scousers).
