Why

Why does NSC, on my PC take a long time to load. When clicking on a thread sometimes the little green progress boxes come on and 3 of them show and then nothing happens for ages as if it is locked. The same happens when I post a reply, for some considerable time it shows the meassage loading reply and the same thing happens with the progress bar.

Is this a fault with NSC or with my PC. If it is my PC how can I overcome this and make it work faster?

I went to post the score when the 9th wicket fell and it took so long that SL were all out and still the 'post quck reply' was running but nothing was happening.

Being as technologically illiterate as you, BG, all I can report is that NSC isn't presenting those problems to me today.

My guess is that the problem might be at your end.

I have been experiencing the same problem for a couple of weeks or so, some days I don't even bother trying to post because it takes so long.

This annoys me , so I try to refresh the page which works for me. When I post a reply it doesn't take so long so no need to refresh. I reckon it's all down to the Googleshit which is slowing things down.

Defrag and disc scan should do it.

Defrag and disc scan should do it.

Its actually the loading of the google ads at the top that is causing it. There was a thread about it on here the other day. Annoyed me so much I've blocked them so they don't load - shame as it gives NSC income if anything does come up there which interests me, but it locks up my browser all the time. I still see all the other word ads, but blocking the google ones sorted it out for me.

I've used my kaspersky (web security software) to block any "dangerous" scripts. Any web security programs should offer you the choice. Hang on and I'll find the thread from the other day to see if anyone else had any advice.

Right found the other thread entitled "Does anyone else have problems with the adverts above " started by DTG a week ago, but it doesn't add any solution except to say that people using Firefox as a browser don't seem to experience the issues. I can't load Firefox as this is a company laptop - but maybe you could?

Oh and just incase Bozzas wondering if I'm denying us any income - I'm sort of taking the tack that its better to have people on here and hope they'll use the other links which create income for us, than to be annoyed by the google ads and not visit...hope that makes sense, if not feel free to edit my posts or I can remove them.

I've not had any problems at all - PC running IE7 and FF, and a Mac running FF. But there have been a few reports of issues and I'm obviously keen to get to the bottom of them.

What I'll do first is turn off the Google ads that contain pictures, and just use the text ones, and see if that improves things for people.

However, as tede says, the Google ads provide valuable income to NSC. In less than a month they have raised $125 for NSC.
