Ridiculous when you consider Lego-heads behaviour, he practically runs up and down the touchline

Wouldn’t it be great if MOTD2 and Sky’s end of match-week prog analysed the blatant double standards.

Beloved Arsenal able to get away with so much, other clubs micromanaged by officials.

The rules don't apply to Arteta. He spends most of every match outside his technical area and encroaches on the pitch whenever he wants.

Went yard onto the pitch ..stepped back off quickly according to the club (as per TS saying so)…shown red ….madness…….i look forward to seeing many managers being shown red this season
Ridiculous offside rules

But leaving the technical area (just once or twice) is only a yellow card offence and that was not why either manager was sent off. It was leaving the technical area to berate the ref.

Premier League match centre says it was for ‘unacceptable behaviour’ - (whatever that means)

So essentially they are saying they got sent off and not giving the reason why. Of course its due to unacceptable behaviour that's a fundamental truth about being sent off. Wonder if they will have the balls to say what the behaviour was

I don’t think it needed much more than both managers running on to the pitch to bark at the ref. tbh. - a culture of years of abusive behaviour towards referees throughout the game at all levels has created zero tolerance and on pitch officials highly sensitised to hostile interactions now.

As for the incident - It was entirely Rob Jones’ incompetence imo:

1. For not awarding what (imo from watching it on tv) should have been a straight red for an intentionally reckless challenge straight through the player
2. Even if it arguably wasn’t a straight red, for being overly reticent to award a yellow because Gibbs-White was already yellow-carded for an earlier infringement.

If a player has already been disciplined in an unrelated infringement, that should not act as a mitigating factor in any subsequent infringement.

Going from not awarding the yellow card at all to sending the player off managed to piss off two opposing managers at the same time.

That’s quite an achievement.

Worthing
The TV commentators (who have the audio feed with the VAR) stated Huerzeler was sent off for encroaching on the pitch.

We should know definitively tomorrow as the FA website will be updated (and will give the relevant reason).
Given that other managers, on the same day weren't carded for doing the same, are there grounds to appeal?

Santo and Hürzeler weren’t sent off for encroaching on the pitch (which is a yellow card offence) they were sent off for their technical area ‘unacceptable behaviour’ which included berated the refs. See the Premier League statement I posted above.

Fair if so but Fab's part in that just seems to be missing from all the replays ive seen. MOTD & Sky for example shows Santo pointing and shouting directly at officials, but Fab is just standing there looking very confused.

I think Fab reacted to the initial challenge and had a go at Gibbs White, all before the ref got there but presumably reported by Taylor.

The Premier League just says he was engaged in ‘unacceptable behaviour’ ie berating/swearing the refs decision by all accounts but maybe there’s a bit of ‘pour encourager les autres‘ thrown in too - it seems we always get a crackdown of the ruled at the beginning of each season then it tends to drop away a bit - pretty sure he wasn’t an innocent bystander though - he was on the pitch remonstrating at one point at Gibbs-White and there was a barney in the dugout area too just beforehand from what I could see on TV but not all of it was televised.

Reminds me of the red card Dunky received for ‘abusive behaviour’ when he apparently called the ref a ‘bald pr*ck’ or words to that effect.

Absolutely top marks for the use of 'pour encourager les autres'.

Guardiola should have got 2 reds for his behaviour after Arse equalised.
See my earlier post. How on earth is Pep getting away with kicking the bench chair like that? Even the media are not making much of it. For me it just supports the argument that their are different rules for the ' big boys '. For example when are the refs going to come down hard on Arteta and his constant excursions out of the technical area?
