Why the hell did Gus let Kuipers go?

Yes, I know he was sent off yesterday, but at least he is Mr Reliable when it comes to shop stopping and rarely in all his years with the Albion made the kind of schoolboy error Casper made yesterday.

So we have:
Casper ... a number of dodgy moments on saturday and then one enormous f***ing error.
Poke ... a couple of eeror strewn performances in pre-season and versus Northampton.
Walker ... Gus clearly doesn't feel he's ready yet.
Brezovan ... maybe the best we have, but I wasn't particularly impressed last season.

So more goalies than we've ever had and not a decent one among them.

Kuipers should definitely have been given another year.

Give the new guys a chance before writing them off. Especially as Kuipers was withdrawn at half time during his debut for us because he wasn't doing his job, but he went on to become a legend and our current keepers may well become great keepers and servants to the club too - seems some fans have a very selective memory when it comes to Kuipers career here.

Albion manager Micky Adams cut short Michel Kuipers' debut because he wasn't doing his job.

The big Dutch goalkeeper got the chop just 45 minutes into Saturday's opening 2-0 defeat at Southend.

Kuipers, a close season capture from Bristol Rovers on a free transfer, was not injured and Adams described the change as "tactical."

He said: "If people don't do the job I expect them to they won't be on the pitch."

High up on the South Downs.
I rate Brezovan but he has a serious injury. Feel Michel should have been given another year on his contract - a bad decision that he wasn't!

Of the many keepers signed to replace Kuipers, Ben Roberts was one who was genuinely up to it.

A fractured wrist is hardly a serious injury.

I think his wages may have been a factor and frankly what's done is done so why go on about it ?

Kuipers was a good shot stopper who was very poor off his line and did not help his defence consistently blaming them for his own mistakes. His distribution was awful. People look at him through rose coloured glasses. Casper and Brez are both potentially better if the kuipers fan club keep off their backs

Completely spot on. Get off the new lads backs and get behind them. Casper will know he's f***ed up and just like green should have been in the world cup, he should be backed by Gus by being publicly supported for the stuff he did well.

so you dont like Ankergren because he made a mistake that cost us the game, yet Kuipers does exactly the same thing and you want him in punk:

I don't know the exact circumstances of his sending off at Crawley. Do you?

No idea why he was let go. If he was still here he would be number 1 or 2 out of the full list we have.

ankergren is a very capable goalie who played a lot of games for leeds, he makes one error of judgement and the nsc football purists are ready to write him off as a poor signing, when a team scores from the right side of defence are they going to call for calderon to be replaced, how long before barnes is getting slagged if he dare goes another game without scoring. I loved kuipers too but he made plenty of errors over the years which (whisper it) some did cost us goals as well, ffs stop harking on about players who have been released get over it and support the current crop of players or f*** off and support (if you know the meaning) someone else.

Kuipers has gone ....people need to get over it . And another thing this childish addition of 'W' to the front of Ankergrens' name (on numerous other threads) is really getting on my tits and is hardly going to support and encourage him...............grow up for gods sake.

One mistake made and he is being slated and abused ..............has everyone forgotton the start Brez made ?....yet until he got injured we were more than happy with him........fickle ? ....surely not

Of course,Michel wasn't perfect and he has gone so we are where we are.Human nature however, dictates that when our goalies balls up and the balls up costs us points, the subject of Michel will come up, until Brez and /or Casper are firmly established as acceptable replacements for FDM...That may take a bit of time.I think the situation has been made rather more emotive than it should be because we have also signed Poke, who let's be honest doesn't appear up to it yet.
Personally,I would have liked to have seen us sign Owain Fon Williams, who is still at Stockport.Failing that though,I would have been more than happy to keep Michel for another year!
