Why play El Abd at right back.....

ok, he has played well at centre half and Whing was suspended, but what about Reid, Hart or even Lynch?

El Abd will never be a full back - no pace and no passing skills. Was caught out three times today in wrong position = 2 goals and a match saving save by Kuipers.

And I'm an El Abd fan!

He was poor today, can't see him playing there again once all our defenders are fit.

Seemed to just drift into the centre all the time, first leaving Demetriou to score and then very nearly leaving Gray to win it for them. I didn't think he was that bad at RB normally, but today he has shown he cannot be played there again for the foreseeable future.

funny how people spot his mistakes and miss the good. done alot of good work in the first half especially, usually when covering in the centre... significant? for the 1st goal the central defenders where nowhere to be seen so only half his fault.

needs a run in a single position to let his ability come through. As it is, he plays week in, week out in 3 or 4 different positions and everyone knocks him.

When he is effectively totally responsible for the second goal and very nearly losing the game for us at the death, it is hard to commend him for the good work he might have done. I am a fan of El-Abd and think that a lot of the criticism he gets is harsh, but I think even the most avid of El-Abd fans would have to admit that today, he wasn't great.

The man is a liability and he was fully at fault for the first and second goal. Positionally today he was awful!

The first goal was as much down to Elphick chasing the header further up the pitch. Gray was played through the gap he left between El-Abd and Butters

i wont defned those faults, but people seem to ignore when he coverd for others mistakes. and where was the midfield in front of him?

With Lynch and Whing back I would be surprised if El-Abd will be anywhere other than the bench for next week's league game, although he may play in the cup match. This for Dean Wilkins being seen to be fair to him.

I agree actually, at times we did seem to committ a few too many men forward and looked a little bit vulnerable on the counter-attack, but when mistakes cost you goals and very nearly the match, it's very hard to ignore.

I actually thought he played pretty well today. To be honest I didn't see who exactly was responsible for the goals.

Does El-Abd know how to play a short pass to a team mate ??

Precisely my thought after today's game. I was literally shouting at the players NOT to pass it to El-Abd because he either doesn't know how to pass or has forgot!
But to be fair there was a number of really really really sloppy passes from a number of players, not just El-Abd, but on the whole he didn't have a great game.

Richards has won me round. Much better LB than joel. Joel is only any good at CB.
