Why is this disconcerting?

Isn't it a bit odd that no driving offence was committed yet a picture was still taken.

Can speed cameras spot bare buttocks?

Yep - why should the camera be taking pictures when no offence has been committed? Would our resident policeperson care to offer a suggestion?

Apparently if you drive at over 30 at some speed cameras on the other side of the road you can make them flash, but as you are going in the wrong direction they do not record an offence. Therefore you could see the driver coming towards you but not be caught for speeding.

I am not a policeman but think that being in the front seat without a seatbelt on is an offence, regardless of the apparent lack of trousers and pants displayed by the passenger.

oh. Got that wrong then. I thought that it was the fact that the police were worried enough that children might see it and take offence yet the Police are quite happy to have the photo on the most popular website in Britain (which thousands of kiddies access every day).

Anyhow, traffic cops. Nuff said really.

"Jeremy Forsberg, of the Northumbria Safer Roads Initiative, said: "This behaviour is simply ridiculous - it's clear what he was thinking with what he had on show.

"Not only is it disrespectful, but distasteful and offensive, particularly to children who may have been exposed to this nonsense."

Good to see somebody thinking of the children of Northumbria

It clearly says...

The "mooning" man was snapped by the mobile camera as the black BMW X5 drove past on the A1171 Dudley Lane in Cramlington last month.

Think it was a perfectly reasonable social statement on the iniquitous unwarranted intrusion by the police in our day to day lives.

Forget burglary or assaults - they are mere minor happenstance when compared to the punishments sought and meted out on motorists

Children upset by seeing a bear arse ? - don't be silly. More like police upset at someone clearly showing the high regard in which the police are now held

I don't think it is the police's fault. I blame the government.

Wasn't me your honour - I can prove it! I have a very, very distinctive arse, owing to the copyright infringing tattoos of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck that are on it.

I mooned once after running away from a minor altercation, and was told by a copper not to be a silly boy as it was almost as good as a fingerprint...not sure how he planned on sticking my arse in an ink pad, but I took the hint.
