Can I ask what is 'insulting' about a description of gay male sex?

oh come on, the taunts were intended as nothing more than abuse and incitement. Lets not pretend they were meant as anything else.

i put gay insults in around the same area as insults about a girl being easy, someone being ginger or fat, their mother being a slag, their national location meaning they are likly to be unemployed, welsh or scottish. ie they dont really matter its usually without real malice and does anyone really take any notice? aside from sodomy (which is still illegal hetrosexually) i dont recall there were ever laws against being gay, or them being excluded from anything or going anywhere (though easier to keep it to yourself obviously). unlike being black, where you had slavery and distinct laws (well, abroad any way, not sure that ever applied here) and legalised or accepted segregation.

maybe we should turn it on its head, why is racism special, when you can abuse some one for just about anyother reason? (except in the work place, then *nothing* is allowed...)

What he said.

How would you prove that either "We can see you holding hands" or "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" were intended as gay taunts?

Is holding hands the exclusive preserve of the gay community? Do none of the LADIES in the ground have boyfriends?....

Same way as Baaa is racist if you're welsh. Acceptable if you're english. Crazy world out there AND I'M OFFENDED JUST BECAUSE I CAN BE (and making the FA do something, the chattering classes get there knickers in a twist should be provide some amusement :) )

Being intended as abuse, and taking them as abuse are two different things.

Some xenophobic, jingoistic airhead on here calls me fat boy. He's meaning it as an insult - bless him - but it can't really be one if it's true. I am rather (too) portly, you know.

So, the question still stands - what is 'insulting' about a description of gay male sex?

Hello newbie here.:)

Abuse to opposing football fans, has been going on for donkeys years, whether it's racist, homophobic or something else. Just think, you could be a Bolton supporter and get loads of fat abuse hurled at you every week!

I see the agenda now is to turn it around on its head and make out the West Hams meant it as a compliment. Ok, you think that but the chants were highly offensive to either hetero's or gays I would have thought but hey, I am just voicing an opinion, if people think it is acceptable and that it doesn't matter, its a free World.

I've already posted a few times what was said Alan so whats the point in posting it again ?. Anyway I've had my say, thanks for listening and have a good night.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest but I always wonder that because there's a good chance there may well be gay fans in the away end, how they'd feel if they knew they were sitting next to someone of that orientation when dishing out homophobic abuse.

A gob full of phlegm right in the 'ammers fans faces would have been a great response, US. I know it's disgusting but CCTV wouldn't have caught that, they punch back being so wound-up, get arrested and a three-year banning order.

Actually, I don't give up.

I know what was said. But you're dodging the question. It's not what was said that bothered you, was it? Or rather, it shouldn't have been. It's the way it was said...

I am not sure what mind games you are playing now Alan but I assume it is to insinuate I am infact being anti gay myself in some way. Well, no.

That could be quite good. Picture the scene:

Away fan #1: "We can see you holding hands! ..... Does your boyfriend know you're here? ... Town full of faggots! You're just a town full of faggots!"
Away fan #2: "Excuse me, I just wanted to let you know that I'm gay."
Away fan #1: (Stares at #2 for a moment) "S.... so am I!"
(They kiss passionately)

Cant be many opposing gay away fans surely.

Must be a few Brighton gay fans due to the large gay population in Brighton. Not sure would be the case elsewhere although bound to be a few. Doesnt seem to be many if any gay players mind

Some peoples views are naive in the extreme.

Brighton mentality is a different mentality to most, sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing

"Doesn't seem to be many if any gay players". Right.

f***ing hell there are a lot of ignorant views on this thread.

There will be more then a few gay away fans in the away end at anyone time, by average there should be about 156 (one in 16) for a capacity away crowd, does that scare you?

I'm not sure if I'm offended or not, bored yes,but maybe not offended, however stamping out homophobic abuse is listed as not acceptable by a) the club and b) the FA, as both seem to be doing nothing about it I think i'd be happier if they just removed this idle pledge from anywhere it's presently published

Pork pie land.
I find it very offensive as well! Apart from maybe some of the JCLs, using their "pink pounds", I am sure that we have no more "friend of Dorothy" that any other club.
