I wondered about that too.

Do Plymouth and MK Dons have that capacity or are they increasing theirs?

Wonder if some lucky national team or other will be based in Brighton and using the Falmer Stadium for training?

bristol has been turned down by somerset council i think.

That's a bit like Lewes District Council turning down Falmer.

The Ashton Vale site straddles two planning authorities, with access to the ground coming in to one authority area from another. You'd have thought that our high-profile planning issues would have alerted the proposers of this project to the potential pitfalls of this scenario, wouldn't you?

So who is funding the grounds that need rebuliding?

The red dogs (F*****t) don't know where they might build, what they're going to build or how to pay for it yet, it's a bit of a shambles. And yes, I am very bitter about it.

MK is only 22,000 at the moment, and once the seats are on the top tier it will be 30,000.
No idea how they are getting Home Park anywhere near that amount..

No - I said MK Dons would be adding ANOTHER TIER - not just putting seats on the empty one.

And Home Park is a rebuild.

I'm sure I heard, a year or more ago, that Pride Park may be extended to 44,000. Is that still on the cards? After all, without wanting to butter you up, to paraphrase Mr Clough, Derby is more of a football town than Nottingham.

I do feel nicely butterly.

Yes, still on the cards, so if the red dog bid goes t*ts up we can be up and running pretty sharpish. The FA were not very forthcoming about why they sent it down the other end of Brian Clough Way...

Is the SOL to be expanded? It's pretty big as it is....

Perhaps, like Falmer, it's the best of a less-than-ideal bunch of sites?

I can't understand the Plymouth situation. Firstly, three sides of Home Park are almost brand new, and secondly, they don't even get close to filling their current capacity. Like MK Dons, it seems they're going all out to have a World Cup venue (which would be great, obviously) but will then spend the rest of their days rattling around in a half empty stadium.

Aside from capacity, we are also woefully short of on site parking spaces, by about 5000 I believe

Not sure if that's true or not but are you saying the venue needs 5000 parking spaces? Bollocks I would say if so. Do tottenham have a hidden car park for example

Not Luton! Thank God
Remember that not all of these stadia will actually make it to being actually used in the World Cup.

One of the biggest reasons for Plymouth is that if they weren't included there would be a huge part of the country wouldn't have a stadium close by. That would have looked a bit odd to Fifa.

If and when we win the bid though I wouldn't be suprised if Plymouth is one of the ones that gets dropped.
