She does present some kind of arts programme at the moment but she is really, really bad at it.

Lancing
Winkleman is an airheaded lightweight I would agree and the programme would lose all credibility but she loves ET and far that she has to be respected.

That will be bollocks.

Although I don't really watch it anymore I used to be a fan back in the Barry Norman days and the first few years of Ross. I remember when Jonathan Ross took over that he'd done something before in rfilm reviewing (can't think what it was at the moment) so he already had the credentials for the job, and he was known for being a fan.

What has Winkleman done to get the gig? (except for blowjobs at the interview)

She's presented for the BBC before......air-headed bollocks, that is!

Ross was very poor with that over-scripted, toothless effort but at least the format and some if the features were decent.

I am not however interested in fuckwitted bullshit, gossip (the boil on humanity's sizeably fat butt) and soundbite reviews.

Give her a chance? She's no critic! Life's too short.

Kermode's inadequately short spot on (BBCNews Channel Fridays at 545pm) will have to suffice for now....coupled with Merton's latest Early Cinema series on BBC4.

Have to say nipple has a point here.

Are you seriously suggesting she was appointed because of her talent rather than an affirmative action programme?

This is the BBC we are talking about,

Really how many sole white male presenters on regular programmes? Top Gear which the hampsted set tolerate through gritted teeth due to the ratings(which has 3 presenters) and the Sky at night.

So where are the next generation of male(hetrosexual) presenters comming from?

These twats have been playing out their PC fantacies, with our money, for way to long.

Was reading an article after it was announced Claudia Winkleman is to host Film 2010 and she said she is very excited because she loves films. Okay. She then went on to say that ET is her favourite film of all time she says a better film has never been made and that she was bitterly disappointed that Avatar didn't do so well at The Oscars as she believes it to be one of the best films of the last ten years. :nono:

Woman are crap at picking films we know this. One of the few regular progs I enjoyed on tellybox that I will no longer bother with.

Dogshit.

So you think Jonathan Ross is a film critique...?? He knows as much about films as Claudia W. He just reads the autoque that is put up in front of him.
BBC had to use him to justify the obcene amount of money they pay him !

This is one of the Beeb's flagship shows, so therefore this is an unbelievable appointment. Winkelman's level is Big Brother, Strictly and game shows. It's like giving Davina McCall the University Challenge gig.

Am I misreading the situation that they want to give it to a woman and there aren't that many around with the ability to present such a show? Clearly, Carol Vorderman isn't much of a film buff...

What was wrong with Mark Kermode? He does actually know about films and is a 'film critic' rather than a generic showbiz personality handed the film gig. I'm reading his book at the moment, and very funny it is too.

probably a bit too art house cinema direction. the exact opposite of this Winkleman totty. obviously Beeb want to dumb down Film 20xx and i expect to see it at a much earlier time slot.

Oh, I agree with that. He does seem genuinely interested in film though. But, Ross does give his own verdict on fims, as I'm sure she will too. I just trust his verdict more.

Just far enough away from LDC
But you know what will happen - the Beeb will have to pay for someone to watch the films with her so that he can answer the usual questions that a woman asks during a film:

- what was he in before?
- who was he married to?
- I don't get it, why did he kill him again?
- I didn't like his suit

I saw Mark Kermode host this talk/book plug at the Duke Of York's on Monday night. Met him briefly afterwards, top bloke.

At the Q & A section at the end, predictably the first question posed to him was "What do you think of Claudia Winkleman's appointment as Film presenter?"

In response, he didn't really say much about the skaggy bint (my words, not his), though he did spend about five minutes in true football style going on about how he was never in contention, that he'd never been approached by anybody about it and that press speculation linking him with the job was just desperation from clueless journos. He made it clear that it wasn't the kind of show that interested him, and that his left-field style wouldn't suit a mainstream BBC audience.

On that note, if Betfair had a market on "Next Film Presenter," Kermode really should have emptied his bank account and selected himself as "lay." I didn't mention that to him though.
