They might not have been available. They might have been too expensive or come with silly wage demands. They might have been injured. Or, perish the thought, they might not have been on 'the spreadsheet'. I'm fine with all those reasons except the last one. A recruitment team should at least be looking into suggestions from its coaching staff.
