I reckon the reason ge has left him out in the last few games is precisely because he does rate him. Crofts was his skipper so had to play and he wanted to have a look at Hendrie and Arismendi. Dicker didn't have anything to prove in Gus' eyes.

May be wrong but that's my opinion

That sums it up for me as well.

I don't reckon Poyet rates him that much either. He is the first midfielder to lose his place. That's why he spent quite a bit of time on the subs bench. There's been a few occassions when he has lost the ball in crucial areas of the pitch where you cannot afford to do so.
Still he is worth having though but not in the starting 11 unless he has a blinding pre season.

"On the ball, Gary Dicker was the best player on the pitch...and I don't mean by a little bit, I mean from here to Brighton"..and that was after Murray had just scored 4.

I think that Gus might rate him, just a little bit...

For me, he's a naturally skilful footballer with a really cultured sensibility to him. I'd love it if we had more players who had that sense of awareness around them and delicacy of touch. I'd build a side around him, as every move goes through him. As McShane says, he has no assists to his name, but he is invariably the one putting the assister into place. A summer of training by the Gus out to cement and improve his position in the team.

That is exactly how I saw it. Just didn't quite put it as well as you!

Good player, but only useful in a 4-5-1 formation as he is not an out and out atttacking midfielder or an out and out holding player.

Can those of you who don't rate Dicker explain to me your opinion of Xabi Alonso and Andrea Pirlo, what you regard their particular attributes to be and what their goals/assists record is like?

Cheers

Because he is not as good as some people think?

Flits in and out of games and struggles to dominate games. Good player has a good range of passes on him but not as good as some think, can't see him being a regular next season
