Do you gayers FANCY the guy, or what?

I mean, he's a defender, and we leak goals, and we almost got relegated last season, and today he fcuking ESCORTED their bloke to Kuipers' goal so he could get enough time and space to slot the ball home.

He MODELS the kit nicely. Fantastic.

I listened to the phone-in, and people STILL advocate that he's the boy to play when everyone else is fit and available.

Don't some people GET it??

psst....no-one is coming in for him trying to buy him off us, you needn't be afraid of losing his modeling skills.

He's woefull, and really needs a more mature central defender to play alongside, like a Cullip or Butters type player.

terrible defending for the third goal. really shown up for his lack of pace, and he is way too casual sometimes. when whing is fit, its got to be tunnicliffe and virgo in the centre.

Yes, let's all moan about ANOTHER of our own players. Christ. Besides, NMH, if you were indeed the geezer stood watching block G for alot of the game, then your opinions on Elphick are blinkered because you didn't see the whole game, only parts, and you couldn't watch alot of his first half activities because the dugouts were in the way.

Tommy Elphick is, in fact, a good central defender and an asset to the team. The defence as a unit wasn't good enough today, for which he has to take some blame obviously, but in his first season in the team we finished 7th with a tight defence. And more recently, we'd gone what, 186 minutes without conceeding? With Elphick at the centre of our defence. Blame on a bad day, a bit of credit when he plays well to balance it would be nice.

He is no the same players as 2 years ago and was very poor today so that ould suggest he is NOT a good central defender, at the moment and certainly does no0t deserve an automatic place. Perhaps ghis form will return and he will be but most certainly not at the moment.

I would hope a left back will be fit and available soon and then play El Abd at right back and Virgo in the centre as we desperately need him there.

Over rated,at fault for 3rd goal.Makes a few f*** ups by being too casual.Potential is there but needs experience along side. The squad needs an experienced, steady, centre half .Never replaced Butters.

Nice work - but since I was NOT anywhere near block G (huh? what a shot in the dark to base a diatribe on!), and I had a perfect view of his walking their attacker to our goal - I'd say he really should be working at Tescos showing people to the cat-food aisle and cleaning up after a dropped yoghurt carton.

He is as much use out there as a waxwork, and yet people leap to criticize anyone else but him.
I'm redressing that balance, and re-dressing that mannequin in a nice outfit for working at a supermarket.

I Like Elphick and I agree in a sense with both of your points, I personally believe Elphick is future captain for us but I think he needs to cut the naiveness out of his game, he seems when I watch him to switch on and off throughout the game and often has lapses in concentration which sometimes can seem one of his best attributes, though I'm sure these things can be coached out of his game as people forget the lad is only 21.

I shouted out, you should have made that tackle Elphick, but I was the only one around me to do it. If it had ben Al-bad then I am sure he would have got slaughtered. Give Al-Bad his due, he had an awful 1st Half but knuckled down in the second half.

How Barnard got their first goal totally unmarked and unchallenged I will never know.

Elphick loves a good old shout at everyone else as well doesnt he?

Slade pointed the finger at him in the phone in.

He's just said it again on BBC's Football League show.

It's rare for a manager to publicly slag off a player. Slade must have destroyed him in the dressing room afer the game!

Elphick should not be in the first team. He is not good enough for many of the reasons stated above. He is not the same player he was in his first season.

Harsh but true.

The team is still short of a top-class centre back and a decent right back as Whing is also very over-rated.

I Sky Plus'd it and just fast forwarded to the 'highlights'.

Short Slade interview afterwards, named Elphick as given them a birthday present in injury time.

I think Elphick is a good player, but he's young and inexperianced, and is not the quickest we've got.

That said, I actually thought El-Abd had a decent game again. Made some shockingly awful judgements (see: that back pass to kuipers that meant he had to come out of his box and head it away) But he tracked them down an awful lot it seemed first half from C. Although, the miniute he didn't track them down, they scored. El-Abd is better than people give him credit for, but he's also just a shit as people give him credit for.

Can't blame Slade for what he said. Looked really bad. Francis Laurent had time to make a cup of tea before bringing the ball down and running towards goal
