Why do your ankles only crack when you're not wearing socks?

Your ankles CRACK?

Mine do, both of them if I bend them outwards.

Sprained both in fairly spectacular style in the past and they do flex much more than most people's as a result, so I always assumed that was why.

That said, I can satisfyingly crack all my knuckles, most of my toes, my lower back, my left shoulder, my neck, one hip and my jawbone, so maybe I'm just screwed :lolol:

There's thisnguy at my work whose ankle cracks constantly when he walks and I'm assuming he wears socks with his shoes. Makes me cringe, eugh.

I feel a 'crack off' coming on
I can't do jawbone, but I raise you both knees, both hips and my nose (which i the only bone I've ever broken).

town full of eejits
knees, hips ,ankles, jaw, shoulders and even my sternum.......a lifetime of contact sport has left me rather cracky.

the worst of it is i usually get up at around 5.30 for work and have to try and get down the hallway without waking the household up.

my ankles crack regardless of wether i've got socks on or not.

I tend to click my jaw when i'm asleep and wake up with my teeth feeling horrible, usually after a nightmare. An example being slung in an Eastern European jail and no one speaking English.

According to a Doc I know (and God I feel old because I used to coach this guy at Under 13's cricket, now he's a bloody doctor), the cracking noise is often caused by gas bubbles building up in the joints and as the joint moves it "pops", making that cracking noise. Not dangerous or painful - just gas!

I was told the same thing, my knees, ankles (with or without socks) and elbows crack all the time and I'm only 26, not a problem and it annoys my girlfriend which is a bonus!
