A similar thing happened to a friend of mine aged 86 and extremely poor eyesight.

She had just been to the Post Office for her weekly pension and a lad came up behind her, pushed her over and stole her handbag.

They deliberately pick easy targets and one reason why all new pensioners now will have state pensions paid into a bank account.

I hope he gets over it soon MRRF.

Sadly these incidents are far too common

Some pratts in Brighton today mugged my grandad, and nicked £100 off him, one pushed him while the other took his wallet, why do this? an easy target? angry:

I'm afraid you answered your own question there MRRF.

He was an easy target. That's why the scum do it (probably to feed their drug habits!).

I'm very sorry to hear your bad news. I sincerely hope the police catch these sub-human low-lifes!!

And more importantly, I hope your grandad recovers swiftly from this ordeal!

Sorry to hear about your Grandad mate, hope he gets over it in time.
You wonder how low people will stoop sometimes, I'm sure, like most people your grandad has been an honest hard working fellow his whole life. He has earned the right to go about his daily life in peace.

Call me a facist but frankly I would publicly birch scum like that. In the doubtful event of them being caught tey'll get a slap on the wrist and no doubt a few hours of community service. It'll cost the tax payer god knows how much to have a probation officer chase around trying to enforce the 'punishment'. If these vermin knew that they would get a 'real' punishment there's a chance that some of them might no be so quick to victimise an easy target.

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather and hopefully he'll get well soon. Would be nice to meet him, would he come to Withdean where he'd be amongst friends ?

Of all the crimes that can be committed in our society, i find this sort to be the hardest to handle.

I don't even know your grandad but it makes my blood boil!

And when you see an old guy on the news bruised around the face for the sake of £20.....

I hope they are battered to within an inch of their lives.

I will repeat the same thing I have said before regarding this sort of stuff. ARM yourselves with mace or pepper sprays. I don't care if they are illegal, the only ones likely to object are the criminals rubbing their sorry eyeballs after a good dousing.

Every grandad or grandma should carry mace, simple as that.

It is true that these cowards, even if caught, which is rare, only get a slap on the wrist or community service.

Some younger ones even get rewarded with holidays because they have got into drugs by having such deprived childhoods.

One youngster in Rotherham tried to sue the local council because he went on safari after a crime spree. He said it got him into crime in a deeper way.

Old people feel increasingly vulnerable as they get older and their confidence can take a nasty knock.
Woe betide them if they raise their walking stick to anyone though.

Yep, you're right about arming yourself but our legal system seems intent of protecting the rights of your attacker over those of your own, the victim.

If you injure one of these little darlings whilst defending yourself (let's face it, if you get attacked you're going to try to do sufficient damge to detur them from retaliating) then you could end up being the bad guy.

What a truly terrible thing to happen to your grandad, I really hope he recovers quickly and fully from the shock and frustration. Difficult to imagine what - if anything - passes for a conscience in wankers who do this kind of thing.
