Why do a lot of games in North Derbyshire / South Yorkshire kick off early tomorrow ?

I remember when football was at 3pm on a Saturday, like the Albion today.

Oh, hang on... punish:

The seaside.
Does any brainbox know why there is only a North Riding, West Riding and East Riding of Yorkshire, but no South Riding?

Similarly, Brighton had/has a North Laine, West Laine and East Laine, but no South Laine, although the answer in this case is pretty obvious - the big blue thing made of water is in the way.

Crap Town
Millwall fans have to pick up tickets at a service station 20 miles from Leeds between certain times to go to the match. Only expecting 200 fans

The police escort between the services and Elland Road plus the number of police in attendance around the stadium could well exceed the number of away fans.

Thanks Greens :(
Unlike most counties in England, which historically were divided into hundreds, Yorkshire was first divided into Thrydings, meaning 'Thirds', which were the three historical ridings of Yorkshire and then into wapentakes.

Proud West Riding man here

East Riding for me. Driffield to be precise :)

Lots of Yorkshire town/cities end in -field, which was because they were built on fields of that name I'd hazard to guess ???
