[Albion] Why did we buy Adam Webster?

Agreed. Seemed a strange decision to make the change for this particular game.

I actually thought the opposite.... with City’s high press it made perfect sense to play someone who was more comfortable on the ball and passing out from the back under pressure. Duffy has many attributes but his ball playing is not one.

I fully expect Duffy to come back in against Burnley however as going up against Barnes and Wood is certainly his strengths.

If I was Duffy being told this after all I did for my club last season I’d not be happy, I just look at it as a man management risk, undermining Duffy’s status in the team

So you didn’t watch a stream then? If not then yes it would have been very depressing. We played some lovely one touch footbal but in Aguero and De Bruyne they had world class players who delivered in style on the day

Yes they’ve had those players for a number of seasons and we’ve seen them play the Albion plenty of times

How soon is now?

City’s three way short triangular passing is sublime to watch, even when on the receiving end. We were never going to win this one, but we do need our front players taking their chances - could’ve been 4 - 2... Made sense to chuck Webster in for this one, but I think Duffy May be back for the Burnley game. We need to start picking up points against what will become the bottom 10 teams. We’re playing the best football since promotion, so hopefully we can start picking up points to match the performances

Not sure what your point is but today we had them worried and with more quality upfront and if March had any composure in and around the box we would have scored a couple at least

Surely it’s better to lose by four than lose without a shot on target or just rely on hoofing the ball out of defence which was our go to in all the othr games against them. Not forgetting the 1-5 drubbing we got at the end of last season. Defending in depth worked well there

Fortunately, GP doesn't come with the baggage of loyalty towards last season's success stories. I like the idea that a stalwart displaying indifferent form will find himself dropped for someone else to have their turn, otherwise it can only stir resentment in the fringe players.

Potter has it spot on imo. You have a squad and rotate it depending on the opposition. The days of “keep the shirt” have gone.Duffy and the others need to embrace it or move on

It’s modern football

Agreed.
And they are still at least one class above anything we have.
Much rather see us trying to score than what we saw last season.

Wembley was all about 'draw a foul - try and score from the freekick'.

Anyone looking upon today as a step back has an odd recollection of 6 months ago.

Played the way we intend to play each week rather than a match by match basis....compliments from the radio 5 pundit (it was the main commentary)...Potter knows it’s a results business ..we can see this pattern of play and team has potential to do better as against last season a side ..pattern of play that was at its maximum.
Other side of international break we have to start converting this promise into points....done by scoring!

whoscored.com says it was 1-4, but then they were wrong about who we beat in the League Cup.
Not to mention all those Swiss players they think we have... :)

Hapless. Plucky. Naive. Parking the bus. Will struggle.

A few of the words and phrases not used about us during the radio commentary this afternoon.

I'd rather lose 0-4 away to the second best side in the world, as part of our learning process, than lose 0-1 in part of our stagnation, and rearguard action against these, a good side.

Anybody actually willing to lay into Potter and Bloom this evening? ???

As much as I loves Big Shane.
He ain't striding forward causing City's best centre back having to hospitalize himself just to stop him.

Well for me that would be the dumbest move since we offloaded Glenn Murray

I think he meant that Duffy won't grizzle about being dropped., and every player gets dropped for tactical reasons from time to time, so better now than never.

I am sure dwayne can correct me if I am wrong.

His punctuation is a bit sloppy though, raising the possibility of confusion, I'll concede.... :lolol:
