70-80 years ago the gridiron game was a lot more like rugby. While it had the forward pass, there were still players drop-kicking in open play.

The last point scored via a dropkick in the NFL was by Doug Flutie, in 2006, a conversion.

Oooh good point, I didn't specify the sport. The soccerball one, I quite like rugby (I guess 'cos it's similar to American football); I wish there was a team in Sussex: Brighton and Hove RFC sounds good!
