I stayed in the Jury's Inn Leeds last night, I can recommend that, 5 mins from the station and 45 quid for the room, not per person.

In London village.
Have you read the reviews. They are not very good. The location is though.

The reviews of The George are shocking. The GDC are booked into a fairly basic b&b and looking forward to a weekend of quality beer, curry, orange northern birds and hopefuly 3 points.

I stayed at The George a few years ago and it was like a lot of the long-established hotels in the north - eg. the Danum in Doncaster and several of the bigger ones in Harrogate and Southport - in that it was pretty grand once, had not had a penny spent on it for decades, and is now somewhere between a hostel and a knocking shop.

Which reminds me, add the Adelphi in Liverpool to that list - it's pretty much 100 per cent knocking shop these days, particularly in National week. Many, though not all, are the ones that were built bang next to the station (which brings in the Queen in Chester, another one whose name escapes me in Hull, and various others).

There are decent places around, though, it just takes a bit more investigation. Harrogate has a Hotel Du Vin, for a start, and there are several within 10 minutes' walk of the station in Leeds, like the Bewleys, which is £79 with brekkie and wifi thrown in.

High up on the South Downs.

Is this an advertisement for sex tourism in Northern England?
