Why are so many people negative about being asked for money ?

The club gives us all so much pleasure. No one is being forced to make a donation. It is down to the individual. If we can raise money to help everyone will benefit for years to come, hopefully.
We stood at Watford and applauded their fans for raising money to buy their ground back. Then knock our own club for asking for help.
Could the club not have sold shares for say £100 just to have an extra incentive ?
I've decided to donate some money by simply missing an away game.Instead of giving ticket money to another club, petrol money to BP or whoever, paying over the odds at service stations and missing a couple of beers. The average away game costs £100 more or less. Why don't we all miss the same game and donate the money to the club.Might get some press for the away end being empty ?If I hadn't already got my ticket Gillingham would have been an ideal game to mis, save giving them anymore revenue.

That is another innovative idea from a fan - well done and I might do that.

The issue goes far wider however - why can't BHAFC think up these types of initiatives ?

Why not for one home game every supporter not wearing an Albion shirt pays a fine ?

etc etc

The club must think about the bigger picture of just mailing a list and hoping for something to happen and not just rely on good ideas from fans like yourself.

Miss Sunderland

I think the club are thinking of ideas. How much did it cost to send out these letters and a press release?

If just a few people send in donations they are going to make a profit.

You lot moaning does not cost them money.

I think thats a fab idea!!! as you say gillingham with all the history would have been the idea game.imagine if we'd done that at watford 2250 @ £100 = £225,000 nearly a 1/4 of a million ok most people wont have spent a £100 on a short trip to watford butyou get the idea

Missing Gillingham is a great idea! Hope the team don't mind though :(

You know I think the VAST MAJORITY of people on here would give money if they had it.

It makes people feel BAD that they can't just write out a cheque. What happens next depends on the personality.

Some people get thinking of other innovative ways to give. Others blame the club for asking them in the first place.

Firstly we're made to feel guilty for not donating and secondly we don't seem to get anything back in return, and on a more personal note I don't find the club gives me much pleasure these days, its all becomer a little tedious and tiring, sorry !

I think those who wish to give money should do so without all this..." I am giving money..." shit.

At the end of the day it is personal choice.

I know we are in a difficult, but not unique position, but we as Brighton fans have had this guilt trip laid on us for years now and I do detect apathy and fatigue setteling in. talking to people at the ground yesterday, die hard Brighton fans, they appeared very non plussed by this. It was not our fault that Archer sold the ground. We still came through the turnstiles and paid our money as we are doing now. we have written letters/gone on marches/bought season tickets very early to help cash flow/bought shirts car stickers etc etc and now we are being asked for more.

I will not be sending money as I have better things to spend my money on, Although I have followed Brighton for nigh on 30 years, and have spent vast sums on the albion for me and BAG, I feel that enough is enough. You can only wring out a flannell so often before it eventually dries up. If that makes me a bad fan, then hey i am not going to lose any sleep over it.

Who's making us feel guilty? The club certainly aren't making me feel guilty about not putting in. I don't have it at the moment so they can't have it, but I'm not being made to feel guilty about it.

The club are ASKING for help, not DEMANDING it. Get over it, you'll soon be crowing if this money is not found and we go out of business. Then whose fault will it be?

I dont feel quilty for not giving any money because I cant afford too, simple as that! Even if I could afford too I probably would'nt, much rather spend £250 towards a snowboard trip rather than chance it on a name on a possible seat that may never exist.

If we had got the green light for Falmer then they wanted £250 for your name on a seat then I'd do it straight away.

Whether individuals give money is between them and their wallet, purse, piggy bank etc. What I hate about this whole thing is the suggestion that if you don't donate you are letting the Club down and are therefore a lesser supporter. This is rapidly becoming a notches on the belt discussion.

If you want to donate, donate. If you don't, don't.

Lets keep the fund raising theme going - some great ideas. But please, let the personal actions of individuals remain just that - personal.

If you don't mind donating money, go for it.

If you do, or can't afford to, don't.

Simple as, can't see why people are moaning, the club has the right to ask, and you have the right to say no.

It's a free country. It's not as though they've said your season tickets are no longer valid for example, as Bradford did to some poor mugs who shelled out for 10 year tickets when they were deep in sh*t.

Either you can, or you cant afford to put in money - and it does'nt have to be much, you don't have to put £250 - it's all up to you, no problem. But don't have a go at the board for not dipping into their own pockets if your not prepared to (Dick Tight this, and Dick Tight that).
