Why are people unhappy with Savage??

I have to admit to having only seen him once in the stripes - against Cheltenham where I thought he was excellent. However, I have heard since that he has played alright and is the only player in the team retaining possession. However, from the comments on here it would appear that his habit of keeping possession is actually pissing people off. I don't get it.

Saturday he played about 3 forward passes. The rest are all sideways and backwards, that's how he retains posession. Thing is when he did make forward passes they were good quality.

If Savage can lead by example and get our lot passing, albeit sideways and backwards initially, then its money well spent IMHO. Maybe the penny will drop and they'll start doing it for themselves. Then when they're confident passing sideways and backwards, maybe we can try the next stage, the forward passing stage. Besides, anything's better than aimless hoofball we've been subjected to up til now.

He was always a good hard working player years ago.
Incredible to think he has now played for us (albeit on loan).
If some-one said last year that Savage would be playing for BHA not many would have believed it I think.

He can only pass the ball to players who make themselves available.

He's doing okay, and I'm happy to have him here.

Before anyone writes himoff completely, remember that the alternatives are Tommy Fraser and Adam Virgo.

I just dont get why people are so anti a Brighton player getting a ball passed to his feet and laying it off ON THE DECK to another Brighton players feet??

With Savages passes to Brighton players and Murrays laziness, its a wonder how we score any goals

Passing

Everyone has (rightly) been complaining about hoofball, but on Saturday I thought we kept and passed the ball better - led by Savage. One thing is for sure - if you keep the ball there is less chance of being beaten, and you can start from there.

What was depressing was some fans behind me getting frustrated with the passing around and shouting "launch it" and "bang it up there". I wonder, is there any hope......?
