Why are Lewes LibDems doing THIS?

On NSC for over two decades...
Bwian, actually reading the reports is only something we do.

NIMBYs are selective about their propoganda - hence lots of pictures of the pond and the church, and none of the dual carriageway or the University.

So why would they bother drawing attention to the evidence that a recommendation is made upon when the recommendation itself is all that they are actually interested in.

"There is a place for protest and debate" - quote from the libdem website. This is a bit rich from them when they are using political trumpcards to hoodwink the residents they represent. Nice piccy of a field at Falmer - gives the impression of countryside that hasnt changed in centuries , how about pointing the camera in other directions to show the dual carriageway , university buildings , Southern Water's offices ? Like all politicians whether they are Libdems, Tories or Labour they only give you their viewpoint and not a balanced argument. Being a politician at any level means that you have to take the flak , people sending e-mails to the council leader is surely their opportunity to enter into a debate.

I think it's time for Charles Kennedy to receive an email from me (ultra polite of course). Now all I need is a decent pic (that can be attached to the email) of the site as it actually is-it's time that ginger twat started exerting some pressure on Abnorman Baker.

Opposition to the development is also backed by the local Lib Dem MP Norman Baker who added, "This decision has been made purely for political reasons rather than on planning grounds."
Nice to see him still sticking to his statement that he'll abide by the decision outcome.

"Lewes Liberal Democrats thoroughly condemn this victimisation of Cllr De Vecchi and I would call on those involved to see sense and participate in the process that is taking place."

How much more useful if might have been if Ann de Vecchi and Lewes District Council had been prepared to participate in the process themselves by recognising their accountability to the council tax payers in the district.

High up on the South Downs.
Falmer is a village in a fold of the Downs. It is completely separate topographically and economically from Brighton and the university. If you go in the village pub you will hear the Sussex dialect spoken by the locals who are mainly shepherds. It is a quiet location where you can sit by the pond and hear only birdsong and the soft southern breezes rustling the trees.

Of course De Vecchi, Baker and friends have been lying for so long that they have forgotten that the whole point of opposing the stadium was to protect the Falmer residents from "the great unwashed of Moulsecombe". I think they are beginning to believe their lies about an unspoilt village. The A27 roar has receded. 10,000 students no longer attend the university. Lewes is again the largest town in Sussex and LDC have assumed the role of the revenue men subduing the smuggling riff-raff along the coast.

They have declared war on our football club. WE MUST WIN.

If DeVecchi can't stand the heat she should get out of the f***ing kitchen. This is politics darling, as you reap so shall you sow.

I agree with the sentiment. But for once I'm hoping that our beloved Government wins!!

:lolol:

It is a Class War. It always was. The Downs lobby and farming fraternity do not want the urban plebs anywhere near their private countryside (despite lots of being owned by Brighton Council now) because they have got a good thing going.

That's why they wanted the stadium on land on a public open space at Sheepcote, or to put people out of work at Shoreham Harbour.

Why they want to put people in high density urban slums near a busy road on brownfield sites, whilst they have gardens and garages.

All monoculture fields near human habitation should be taken out of production so the public does not get sprayed with chemicals.

Do something civilised with the fringe land on the edge of town like sports pitches, recreation facilities. Once ploughed up it is not countryside any more, it is the farming industry.
