Why are bouncers such arseholes?

The Liquid Lounge also throw out people for no reason what so ever (it happened to me once and to several friends) to get people out the club so they can charge more people to come in.

My solution: don't go to the Liquid Lounge. If everyone did the same they would have to improve or qo out of business.
Only time I've been to liquid I nearly got thrown out as my knee gave way. The bouncer asked for a word. He said that he thought I'd had too much to drink and wanted me to leave. My reply was something like "I'll leave if you want, but I'm not pissed, my knee gave way and I've got the rheumatologist on Monday". He apologised and told me to enjoy the rest of my night. Thought he was a really nice bloke.

Now the Trek in Seaford has employed some real bone-heads in the past. Getting better now though.

I don't think you can blame door men themselves for being bad at their job when the people training them and employing them obviously aren't doing theirs properly.

If i owned an establishment i'd make damn sure i had decent blokes on the door. I'd hire someone like Patrick Swayze from Road House!

My standard responses to the dozen or so people who approach me every time I'm working on West Street:

1) Door staff may refuse entry to whoever they choose, and they don't have to give you a reason. It is not an infringement of your human rights to be stopped from entering a club

2) They can eject you from the club for any reason they choose, and again, they don't have to give you a reason. Clubs are private premises, therefore the proprietor and his/her agents have the right to select exactly who they will allow to be there, in the same way that if you had a house party, you could throw people out without having to tell them why

3) They may use whatever force is reasonable in the circumstances to remove you if you are either deemed to be problematic, or you're refusing to go. If you dig your heels in, yes, that includes dragging you out. And if you gob at them or lunge forward to have a go and prevent your mate being dragged out, then yes, that includes putting you in an arm lock or whatever it takes.

4) Yes, no matter what you think, you are too drunk to go in

It is a well known fact that most bouncers IQ's are inversely proportionate to their collar size.

1. Yes, according to the law of the land but Liberty UK disagree with this.

2. Yes, although if you pay to get into a night club and get thrown out for no reason, this is surely against your consumer tights?

3. Fair enough

4. How come i know people who have been to the afore mentioned Liquid Lounge, driven (and hence not taken any drink and drugs) and got thrown out for standing around talking to their friends?

Bouncers are similar to Police in that people agree with them over serious stuff but an element of them are petty, jobsworth bullies who pick on people for no reason.

That more or less sums up why I don't go to night clubs anymore!

That's the law, not necessarily my feelings on the matter...

...and there aren't people in all professions who are petty, jobsworth bullies who pick on people for no reason...I have met a few in my profession, just made sure to learn from their mistakes and not behave like that myself.

Guess there has to be a reason they're called 'clubs' i.e. they can stop you coming into their 'club' for any reason they like or no reason at all. Else they'd just be called boring old 'discotheques'

Techno party below Al duomos and I was dressed as scooby doo. Then onto the funky buddha where I was surrounded by 3 serbian bouncers, giving me the third degree because I had my scooby outfit on. Was made to take it off - still getting eyeballed as if I'd raped their mother. A friend of mine put it on in the club and the bouncers nearly dragged her out.

God forbid anyone has fun in a club. Where was the f***ing harm? DJs couldn't believe it either.

They are all, to a man, nasty shitty cnuts who wank themselves silly to ultra violent porn in their grotty bedsits off 7 dials.

I f***ing hate bouncers. If my children grew up to be bouncers I'd disown them.

Monkey men.

That was you in Al Duomos! Classic, I spun out a little when I turned round and saw that.

Nice.

I work in Liquid Lounge and the doorman are fine , i often stand on the door for a bit and never seen anything untoward, only thing is when they scan peoples id and you find out where they've been thrown out from etc.

In fairness it might have improved of late (although i have no intention of going back to find out) but I was thrown out when minding my own business and know several people who have had the same happen to them.

My ID was scanned but I have never been thrown out of a nightclub in my life.

Interestingly enough I wrote afterwards asking if they were aware of their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act. They replied and said they deleted all details at the end of the night. As what you just said contradicts this I shall be making an official complaint.

Thanks for that:laugh:

eh? then Liberty can f*** right off. what next, someone has the "human right" to wander off the street into you house and watch telly for a bit while eating your crisps and drinking your beer?

Hrm, remind me to go in there with my passport, and then request the Irish Embassy ask for them to be extradited for serious fraud (its illegal to take an image of an Irish passport, at all) :lolol::lolol:

Their argument is that you shouldn't be turned away from a public venue for reasons of sex, age (other than being of legal age), race or clothing.

The public venue part is quite key to that!

Over the years I've met some right tossers working on the doors of pubs & clubs throughout Brighton. I just wish they'd be honest & say they have been told not to let any blokes in. All this "where you from?" bollocks pisses me off. It's f***ing Brighton on a Saturday night, not Cuckfield Village Hall! I was out having a few scoops a couple of years ago when myself & a mate (Stubbsy) went to go into The Standard. This big Arab bouncer says "Where you from boys?", (yeah, patronising prick). Stubbsy replies, "Brighton, where the f*** are you from?" It was definitely worth missing The Standard off the route to see this meathead lost for words.

That is quality :lolol:
