It’s really not important. So flip the question round and ask why it’s so important or MORE so important as these threads are always started by negative posters? I’m joining in the discussion. I didn’t start it or give the energy to start yet another negative thread. So I appreciate your point, but it’s not me you should be quoting. I’m not arrogant at all, but in NSC I’m actually very often right tbh - and part of that is pointing out hypocrites and ott posts - Potter and BHA etc - if I could be bothered to find old posts etc and show how not jumping into opinions makes your posts much more likely to be correct in hindsight, I would

You never come across as arrogant, on Albion or England matters.

Instead; (enviably) optimistic, loyal, positive, patriotic when it comes to England.

Did anyone else not actually celebrate Maguire’s goal as you thought he was offside and waiting for VAR

It has sucked the life out of our game

Yep. I was convinced that it would be ruled out. He was in an offside position just before the kick was taken and in an offside position when he headed it in. In fact I couldn’t believe it stood. VAR wrecking another celebration.

I was a bit meh, other than .white being in the squad, but have gradually got into it, but not getting carried away for the semi. If we get through that would be great, but not like winning the World Cup.

Have never said am not enjoying Euros but like a lot on here have said are far more involved when watching Albion games.

1st point & only major point of tourno - How have England done

2nd point (cherry on top) - Lots of good players and teams to watch and enjoy the carnival of football fans being patriotic about their country

Some on NSC’s

1st point - Battle to be the poster who can claim to care less about England or find the most bizarre thing to claim means more to them than England doing well.

2nd point - Go through everyday life talking about the games but hide it from internet persona.

3rd point - Be miserable and negative as possible until England lose then I’ll hit the internet again to try and wind passionate people up.

4th point - wait for next England game to post on thread claiming I didn’t know it was on and profess what I’ll be doing instead.

5th point - be miserable.

In the past there has always been a ridiculous media fuelled frenzy about England's chances at a major tournaments. I'm quite enjoying this slow burn for a change.

Where Southgate has been brilliant is to manage the usual build them up shoot them down nationalist right wing tabloid press, where one day you are national heroes and the next day a national disgrace.

I commented last night on the fact the team didn’t go mad with celebrations and very much had the look of ‘more work to be done’. The media are a disgrace with England and pedal so much tripe.

I’m definitely not as excited as I was during Euro 96, but I wasn’t an old git back then. :)

I think it’s one of the reasons I love major tournos so much tbh. 96 I was in single figures of age and it was my first football heartache but also my first real jubilant moments of memory too (admittedly a few games of memory from the goldstone but not on the same level as this). So perhaps these tournos bring me back to those happy memories - 3 lions, vindaloo etc just bring back such great times as a football fan too.

Is anyone else feeling the same? I'm suspecting it's because of too many years of being let down. Even the win over Germany hasn't reignited the fire. We eased out of the group with 7 points, beat arguably our arch rivals and (expectedly) thrashed Ukraine and haven't even yet conceded.

I'm not that fussed about what happens Wednesday. If we win, great. If we lose, no biggie.

Is it because our England team is filled with cheats, convicted thugs, covid rule breakers, drink drivers, hit and runners, gun tattoo bearers etc? Love watching England Rugby Union Team but can't abide our national football team who offer very little to aspire to - especially when compared to most of the 66, 70 and a few years after that teams. The Albion have managed to maintain, pretty much, a no dickheads policy but our national team seems to be full of them.

I expect to be shot down in flames but you asked and that's my view :shootself

Thanks mate. I do read back my posts and compare to others and do think I manage to call a lot right. There’s prob 30% in that bracket on here who are level headed enough not to make bold statements. The Welbeck thread is a good example. Fine to have worries about fitness etc but to write ‘no way he’s shit and always injured’ - black and white without research - can make you look a bit silly when he does well etc…

Never made a mistake? I’m sure you could take any club side and hype up some OTT words and exaggerations to describe them. Shit loads of Albion players have been done for things over the years - particularly driving! Ones just lost his license too I believe, but not been on NSC and not should it because it’s irrelevant.

What

They are all puppies compared to what used to be. Go back 25 years and all of your players would be drinking their heads off in some pub right now. Instead they are sitting calmly on the hotel grooming eachothers hair cuts, rubbing eachothers shoulders and playing Yatzy. Of course they've all done some stupid shit but imagine Gascoigne (or similar) in the social media era, wouldnt be a quiet moment.

Are these guys dickheads? No. Incredibly dull personalities and probably quite stupid? Most likely.

I hate to agree with you young Sheebo, but on this do, it’s not as though Booby more , Jimmy greaves or Tony Adams were shy getting the first drink in let alone Stan Bowles , worthington and malcom McDonald.

But throughout this thread you’re very much giving off the “what is wrong with these people” vibe. There are countless reasons why people might not be as excited as others when it comes to England. It’s no big deal really, and as far as I can see no one is saying people aren’t allowed to be getting excited about England at this tournament, as obviously been bloody brilliant for those with a large emotional investment.

They clearly need help - I’m trying to help them

That was one reason, the other was the distraught looking Ukrainian Mrs next to me, who genuinely believed they would win..... we've watched and supported both teams, but obvs last night we were rivals...... Every England fans knows how gutting it feels when you hope so much and you fall short....... when 3rd and 4th went in I just smiled to myself and not a noise..... Could see she was totally gutted..... Weirdly I was hoping we didn't score anymore as it was already humiliating enough.

I was completely underwhelmed before the finals tournament started not being impressed with the manager and his team selections especially in defence but slowly game by game I have started to come round and while no where near 1996 levels of excitement I will watch the semi in a partial state of enthusiasm
