Here is the 3rd knock out match up

The first two are still open and are here and here

This is one is a bit different as there was a 3 way tie for 4th place in Group D, turning this into a four way clash

Paddy McCourt

Nationality: Northern Irish

Albion Career: 2014-15 (10 appearances, 0 goals)

Credentials: Looked like he turned up to matched having slept in a skip the night before. Couldn’t do anything other than epic solo runs. A proper Sunday league style player.

Progress: Finished 1st in Group C, gathering 44 votes (44.4%)

vs

Leon Knight

Nationality: English

Albion Career: 2003-06 (108 appearances, 34 goals)

Credentials: The ultimate “unfulfilled potential” player. Great player with one of the worst attitudes in football history. Absolute controversy magnet who simply loves drama. Fell out with almost every club he played for.

Progress: Finished joint 4th in Group D with 5 votes (4.5%)

vs

Alan Duffy

Nationality: English

Albion Career: 1970-72 (50 appearances, 8 goals)

Credentials: Scruffy, unkempt maverick with terrific sideburns

Progress: Finished joint 4th in Group D with 5 votes (4.5%)

vs

Neal Maupay

Nationality: French

Albion Career: 2019-22 (102 appearances, 26 goals)

Credentials: The ultimate wind up merchant who had opposition fans in his pocket on a number of occasions

Progress: Finished joint 4th in Group D with 5 votes (4.5%)

Knight runs him close but it's got to be Paddy for me

daily bounce

surprisingly close this on. Expected McCourt to romp this one but out of nowhere Maupay is on the charge

How can anyone vote for McCourt? Looking like a tramp a running up a blind alley isn’t being a flair player it’s called being a shit player. I could never understand why we signed him and was surprised we didn’t f*** him off out of it quicker than we did.

Paddy's ultimately fruitless but somewhat exciting runs were a small bright spot during a somewhat dire season, so I get the appeal.
The misogynist midget gets my vote though. That boy could tuck. He also scored the winning penalty in a play off final and declared that if you couldn't score from 12 yards you shouldn't be a baller.
Bonus points as unlike many entrants his career peak was most definitely with us.

I don't think you've understood the definition of flair when it comes to this competition. It's nothing to do with how good or effective a player is.

Being good or effective is irrelevant but so is being a tramp that runs into the corner. … nothing exciting about that . Surely to be a flair player he’d have to bring something unpredictable to the side, McCourt didn’t , we all knew exactly what would happen when he got the ball . Mark McCammon was more flair than McCourt……. Even he didn’t know what he’d do next!

Flair is about the whole package. A flair player should tick as many as possible of the following boxes, IMO;

- Wasted talent, i.e. skilful but in a mostly pointless way - Huge tick here for Paddy.
- Off field shenanigans and controversy
- Outlandish or unusual appearance - A tick, he's comfortably the most homeless and informal looking player Brighton has ever had. There is no way he ever signed a contract, and I'm fairly sure he would've carried his boots (along with a Lucozade) in those old orange Sainsbury's bags.
- Trademark onfield elements - A celebration, a certain skill they always try, mazy dribbling runs perhaps?
- Flair nationality - Anything is better than English here, I would suggest.

His name is Paddy as well. That's pretty good and again pretty informal. I think he ticks plenty of the boxes to do well in this tournament.
