Mario Balotelli at the exact moment he got substituted in a pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy for trying and failing to backheel the ball into the net.
We also have TWO recorded instances now of Balotelli setting off fireworks in indoor/congested spaces.

Has any Brighton fan ever done a podcast thingy with Vicente? What about that chap that used to be on BBC Sussex, wasn't he doing that sort of thing?

Knockaert is definitely flair, but the justification for him being MORE flair than Vicente shouldn't be anything to do with productivity, consistency, longevity etc

in making an argument for Knockaert I'd probably focus more on post-promotion Knockaert when he was way more sulky, inconsistent, in some cases VIOLENT than him being the best player in our promotion season. Or if I was to talk about the promotion season it would probably more about the intense emotion he showed in almost every situation.

With Vicente I'd probably focus on the media CIRCUS from his transfer saga. His constant moodiness, his inconsistency, his occasional "sorry, can't be arsed today" attitude to playing, his epic falling out with Poyet to name a few.

hope that clears it up

Vicente was a tremendous player but in terms of impact AK made the difference in getting us to the promised land. Should only be onne winnner here.
Yeh, Vicente had a couple of really good games, but ultimately didn't have that much of an impact on the team overall. We signed Knocky in Jan 2016, when in danger of dropping out of the top 6, and in 20 games we only ended up missing promotion on GD.

as mentioned earlier, I doubt Brighton is on his radar at all. I imagine most of his memories from his spell here are negative- his wife moaning about the weather, crap tapas, Gus daring to ask him if he can be bothered to play that saturday etc

I think we really need to sort out this definition of flair.

The least flair player of all time is Harry Kane. There will be no further discussion on this fact.

The most flair player of all time IMO is either Nathan Jones when he had that funny blonde thing on his head or Mario Balotelli at the exact moment he got substituted in a pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy for trying and failing to backheel the ball into the net.

Everything in between is up for debate, but I would propose those two at each end of the scale.

Did Nathan Jones ever do his stand on the ball trick while he had that dead squirrel on his head? That might be flair overload.

They may well be, I'd be happy to hear his view, rather than all the hearsay!

Knockaert a far more important player for us, but Vicente is the flairest.
Knocky could have made it with shaggier hair, and a dressing room bust up or two.

Knocky could have done with a more dramatic exit. Expected him and Potter to have a massive BUST UP but he just kinda wandered off to Fulham

Vicente and it's not even close.

- WAY too good for us
- Didn't speak English
- Didn't seem to like being here
- A total enigma (= flair)
- Always injured
- The greatest Amex moment of all time (IMO) was him not scoring
Agree complicated but excellent one night stand

Truth is, Knocky is nowhere near flair enough to win this one.

All of this.

Yes Knockeart contributed more, but that's not what this is about, it's FLAIR, and Vicente had TONS of it

I remember when we enacted a contract extension for Vicente against his will, and he was so pissed off that we had to SIGN HIS MATE to shut him up

I remember the pre season friendly against Liverpool where Vicente made at the top of his game Steven Gerrard look like a pub footballer.

Promised so much but delivered so few moments of brilliance when it mattered.

Said similar dozens of times because I’m a repetitive bastard and love Vicente, but “pound for pound” the best player to play in an Albion team in my lifetime at least, excepting maybe Zamora.

He would glide across the pitch, look up and see CMS running around like a headless chicken, or Dale Stephens stood on the centre spot… he didn’t have a chance.

Even as his late career Albion self, he’d get regular games for this team in the Premier League - and with excellent technical players around him would absolutely excel. Incredible footballer, Valencia legend, and the most skilful player we’ve ever had in my opinion.

Unbelievably flair and well deserved winner.

Flair is not about impact.

In fact, making an important contribution to promotion is a detraction to flair. Touching our hearts over the sad death of his dad, and the reaction to that, detracts from flair.

I much prefer Knocky as a player and bloke, and loved his contribution to our rise, but for flair...

Vicente all day long. Pure football filth.
