I've had that from "Barclays". The thing is though, I don't have, and have never had an account with "Barclays".

It's called an Up Front Fee Scam or UFFS for short ..... the early ones were from Nigeria then Eastern Europe and now the far east .... don;t get sucked in matey or anyone!!!!

I had one from some Lloyd Ogambopo (or some name like that) so I asked him to send a postcard to my p.o. box to prove he was legit. Natch, I was never giving him any info about my bank account, but at least I cost the bugger some stamps and his time.
I've had a load of these over the last couple of years, so have spent a bit of time looking into these mails. The scam is known as the 419 Fraud, and has cost some people and companies millions. Loads of links here ...

Just following on from this with a free mobile text message service on quitting smoking. My son subscribed to this (stupidly) and got seven or eight free messages. Now they keep sending messages and its costing him a fortune. He unsubcribed but it refuses to register and they continue to send them. O2 gave him the number they were coming from but you might as well bang your head off a brick wall. The person I spoke to about it was from Nigeria.
