£10 on the away win @ 8/5
£8 on the HT/FT @ 9/4
£5 on 3-1 @ 22/1
£8 on Leon Knight to score at any time @ 13/8

Couple of losing bets also e.g. Chippy to score at any point @ 5/1, but me BHABet account seems to be £180 better off than it was two hours ago.

Um, guess the drinks are on me....

I had a hopeless £30 accumulator on West Brom, Tranmere, Yeovil and Shrewsbury. Not very good at all.

The consolations on the football front were that I have backed Tranmere and Yeovil to win their respective divisions (good starts), and I've also backed Yeovil's Kevin Gall to be the top Third Division scorer (he got two today).

It was a decent day's punting though, coz I managed to get £2 of the Newmarket Placepot, which paid £126-10 to a £1 stake. So it's off to the boozer for me!

Excellent result for Albion today. Nice one.

LB - Tranmere to win the 2nd? Interesting choice with QPR, Bristol City and Wednesday looking so promising. What odds did you get on them?

11/1. They finished last season very strongly, and looked a very decent side when we played them at Prenton Park towards the end of the campaign.

The Racing Post produced tables for the second half of last season in its new season preview on Thursday, and it showed that Tranmere gained only one point less than Wigan during the last 23 games.

They were 3rd in the 'second half' table, having had a dreadful start to last season. One of our ex-players, Simon Howarth, plays up front for them, and he is a very capable striker at Second Division level.

I don't fancy Bristol City at all without Scott Murray, I wasn't keen on Sheffield Wednesday, I couldn't have Grimsby, I don't think you'll have the strength in depth to win the league, and I've opposed QPR on the basis that the teams who get beaten in the play-off final very rarely seem to win the division the following year.

You're right, it was an 'interesting' selection, and I'll probably be way out, but they got off to a nice enough start yesterday.
