Who's fault? McGhee or Ref?

I'm not sure which pisses me off more - the team McGhee picked for the first half - David Lee, DAVID LEE!!!!! or the incompetent ref. What the hell was McGhee playing at - as soon as McPhee, Hart and Jones came on we looked like a team again but the first half was an insult to the travelling fans. The Ref clearly didn't see the extremely blatant elbow but to book Knight after his couple of minutes of treatment on the advice of the equally crap linesman is one of the most ridiculous decisions I've ever seen. If somehow neither saw it then clearly no action can be taken. He gave us nothing all game and if I never see his irritating grining mug again it'll be too soon. And you can't appeal a yellow card which means Knight gets banned for being elbowed!!

You can't really blame McGhee for experimenting with the team. Unfortunately we paid the price for that as QPR played a full strength team in comparison. The officials were awful though, incompetent as opposed to anything else.

I think we stand a very good chance of getting a result in the league game, and I think McGhee will now have a better idea of what his starting eleven is.

Hmm, the ref was poor. I watched the game with a QPR fan. He agreed that Shittu had got away with murder today. He said that Shittu usually gets penalised all the time, but today he was just lucky.

The linesman was also particularly poor; countless poor offside decisions, and failure to see blatant fouls. To then advise the ref that Leon dived was an absolute disgrace.

The midfield is still an area of concern; even when Jones and Hart came on, and despite the fact that we seemed to attack more, we still didn't have good shape.

A big plus was Yeates - he's looking sharper and stronger and more creative with every game he plays.

The ref and his officials were homers. QPR are arguably the best side in this division and with the ref on their side were always going to win after the 2nd goal went in. Chippy (I think) missed an easy chance before QPR scored and overall I also feel reasonably confident that we can go there in the league expecting to come away with at least a point. Great Albion turnout today

If McGhee messed about with the team then he is obviously to blame for the defeat.

After all, QPR were certain to field their strongest side. They've already played at the Millennium Stadium once this year. Therefore, they know what a wonderful stadium it is, what a fantastic place Cardiff is and how friendly the locals are. They're no doubt keen for as swift a return to our magnificent city as possible.

:lolol: :p :lolol:

I don't blame McGhee for (once again) experimenting with his starting line-up.

But the second half performance clearly demonstrated that the reason we lost was that the first half team wasn't up to the job.

I trust that the managerial experiments are now at an end and we'll see a proper Albion side lining up for the start of the Port Vale game.

What the hell, it's only the Windscreen Wipers Trophy. A trip to the Millennium Stadium can wait a couple of weeks.

I would imagine that mcGhee was just curious to find out whether the rumour that we had someone called David lee on the books was actually true or not. After a pretty invisble performance he is probably still wondering.

In the first half I thought QPR were the better side but the goals came from errors and they created very little else. Unfortunately as bad as the ref was we did create enough chances to score but just didin't take them. A little more composure from harding and Butters in the first half, Mcphee (who I thought had a good game) in the second half and a bit of luck for yeates and we could have won it.

I'm quite hopeful about the league fixture, when it was game on in thesecond half we more than had their measure.

Agree that McGhee was using this game to way up the fringe players (surely that must be Lee's last ever game in a BHA first team) but the ref and linesman were postively Prosseresque.

If that was a virtually full strength QPR then I don't think we have a lot to worry about.

No great loss in any sense of the word although I think Knight should appeal about that utterly disgraceful booking.

I think the suspension has come at a good time for knight he only misses Wycombe who are poor so we should manage to beat them without him. The other good thing is what if he got booked in a couple of weeks we could of lost him for QPR, Barnsley or Plymouth three good sides. So at least he aint missing any big games. Also I think young Robinson could cause Wycombe major problems so he should get a chance.

No blame on MM as long as he realises that Lee is not good enough for our standard of football.

Why?.......In the last round against Boston, McGee put out a full strength team. Against tougher opposition today, and one round away from where the competition starts to get a bit worthwhile, he fields a weakened team? McGee's logic? :nono: :dunce: Maybe he REALLY does want to concentrate on the league? David Lee starting a game for the first team? If someone had suggested that to me yesterday, I'd have thought them a :jester:

Because against Boston I guess he was still trying to work out who should be in his first first team. Now he's sifting through the rest for potential to follow Piercy and El-Abd.

I thought we played well in the second half, had more width once Jones and Hart came on, more attacking options with McPhee and we improved a little in the middle once Rehman stopped trying to play in exactly the same position as Carpenter (solely because Chippy was no longer there)

Lee looked as though he was playing on the right of a back 5 - his first and last start for the first team. Totally out of his depth (although he'd look the same in a puddle)

Harding was better, needs a bit more experience.

We need a physical presence in the centre, Rehman most certainly ain't it, hopefully he's gonna keep the bench warm (or preferably add his inimitable, er, "qualities" to the reserve team) until his loan period runs out.

Didn't El Abd make his debut in the Boston game? Not quite full strength then. At the end of the day, if he has learnt more about how some of the fringe players can cope with top 2nd Div teams and it helps us in the league then it can only be a good thing.

And how many of you were excited at the prospect of the LDV at the end of last season? This season has been the strongest teams we have put out in years in this competition. Even when we got to this stage a couple of years ago we played reserve players. Waste of a competition and as obsolete to us as the league cup is to top Prem teams.

Having said that, I wouldn't have minded a trip to Cardiff! ;)

If he played Lee to find out what he was like, then I await the re-apprearacne of Geoff Pitcher on Friday Night v the Vale

Pingu...................Pingu.............................................

and even now he's prbably running down the bacl of the programme asking himself who that Peter Ali guy is and if he's any good.:lolol:

I'd rather McGhee had a proper look at Lee in a game like that than during a league game. Won't be seeing him again I suspect.

So QPR are top are they ? all they managed was 2 goals from an Albion side in disarray in the first half. Even then the first goal was handled over the line and the second was a gift. We were easily the better side in the second half and should have got the equaliser.

Remember the Ref and assistants gave us absolutely nothing (and some of the decisions were farcical). I for one certainly do not fear going back there in the league.

If Harding had scored in the 15 mins instead of hitting the post?

Sometimes it's just the luck on the day. Better to experiment in a game like that than a league game.
