And would you ever think of living or retiring there?
Curious.

Valetta is stupendous. However, it's probably best to wait until you've actually died before you visit Malta.

:lolol:

That's about right: it looks pretty but it's one of the dullest places I've ever been (and I'm someone who's spent a weekend in Bridlington).

I've been twice and am in no hurry to go back (I only went a second time because someone was paying me a lot of money to speak at a conference there - even that wouldn't be an inducement these days).

Didn't Stanley Matthews play in their top division there when he was into his 60's? So don't expect to watch football anywhere near the quality of the Albion !

I'm off there in October for a week. A colleague at work and a couple up our street go there at least 3 times a year every year....it's either a place you love or you hate.

A lot of retired Brits live over there especially in the winter.

been there, travelled all over the island and Gozo, even went to Comino (3rd

island) no reason to go back, it was the late 80,s though.

The Albion are well known though, every where I went wearing me NOBO

the locals would comment, "aah Bry-ton, you lost 4 nil to Manchester"

maybe thats why I don't want to go back

some of the best nights out ive ever had were in malta.
straight off a dyso (sp?...small boat that takes you ashore)
mad-dog sarnie in the seamans mission place, then down the gut for loads of marsevan (a select malteze table wine at 10c a botle)

that WAS in the late 70's though and i believe the gut is closed now :(

Interestingly there is a bronze statue of Gary Chivers in the town square at Rabat. He is a much revered figure there, I think he built a windmill that supplies the local orphange with bread, or something.

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to think a few years ahead, as I do not wish to end my days here, UK is now to expensive and I can't be arsed to learn another language. How about Gib.?
