I think we would have to be favourites for relegation wouldn't we? Puting the tinted glasses away, we are up against one hell of a battle for survival next year. Division One is currently VERY strong, and as things stand we will get relegated. As MM has said, we need to bring in new blood to even stand a chance. We will, and we will 'just' survive. I think it'll all about how we start the campaine, we're gunna need a few early season results and get ourselves in a good position with ten games gone. Once we have reached that point we can get a rather shrewd view of the table.

Crewe, Watford, Gillingham, Burnley, Rotherham, Plymouth , Preston Thats 7 off the top of my head that we can better.

Add to that Millwall (distraction of Europe!!!)
Leeds (who knows)
And A.N.OTHER Big Club FC that will struggle.

We could quite possibly finish in mid table

i like this mans thinking! positive!

Along with everyone else, I would have to go for Gillingham and Rotherham. Add to that Crewe and Watford. I have a sneaky feeling Plymouth are going to struggle (and not just because they have that numpty Bobby Wiliamson for a manager). However, it is BECAUSE it is a strong division that it is hard to call - any team that starts badly, whoever they are, and no matter how big they are, could be in for a serious fall. Millwall, Forest and Coventry of the bigger sides will need to work hard to avoid that fate. And, surely, hopefully, if there is any justice, Stoke will drop back down to their natural level, as they should have done two seasons ago.

Of course, we too are amongst the favourites to go down.

this is rotherhams 4th season in the division

a new chairman now as well giving ronnie moore money. he's kept them up and put them mid table safety with little money, now he's got some i think they will be safe

it'll be between us, gillingham, and i have a sneaky suspicion preston may struggle

I'd disagree i'd say the first division was the poorest for a few season last season. Especially if Palace can do so poorly early doors and still turn it round ( thats not a dig just because it's Palace but an observation) I think we'll be there or there abouts but one of about 10 to 12 tams who will struggle.

I disagree. I watched Rotherham struggle against Bradford on Falmer Day (6th March) and we could have beaten them.

They lost that day 2-1 (at home)

every team though seems to have a player that they can relly on in this division. crewe have ashton etc. i know we have our key players but i cant wait to see if knight can perform in the 1st. i have a feeling that he will prefer the 1st because the different style of defending to the second.

You can add QPR to that list. I fancy us to be more consistent than at least 4 of those sides you mention and I think we'll finish 2 thirds down the table. It's crucial we get away to a good start though - and McGhee knows this. I think our players are going to come back in superb shape fitnesswise.

I agree, I can't see QPR doing that well. They're about to lose Carlisle, and (once he gets fit) will be relying on that useless lump Shittu to hold their defence together. They got up last season on the back of a good home record, but that didn't really help us last time we went up, and I don't think it'll help QPR this time.

Watford should struggle, not sure Cotterill will sort Burnley out either, then it's the usual presdictions of Rotherham (who have a habit of surprising people), Crewe and Gillingham. Possibly Millwall I'd guess, and- dare I say it- Leeds.

They have all the right ingredients to become the new Sheffield Wednesday. By the time the season starts, the only established players they'll have left will be Radebe and Milner, along with the overpaid and undermotivated Seth Johnson. Other than that, their team will be comprised of youngsters and journeymen picked up on the cheap. Wouldn't be at all surprised (or disappointed) to see them struggle. Especially as many of their fans appear to think they will walk the 1st Division- like Sunderland, West Ham, Forest, Ipswich, Coventry and Derby did before them.

i was there that day as well, thanks to a friend who is able to get 'executive' tickets, although id hardly use the term executive for the facillities at rotherham

anyway, they were very very poor that day. but they are like that - one game they play crap, the next game they hold arsenal to a 1-1 draw at highbury in the carling cup. and if anyone says that isn't impressive because it was the reserves - it was the same reserves who beat a full strength wolves 4-0 in the next round

if rotherham can stay consistent they will survive, which i think will be the same with us
