I hope no-one thinks I'm being crass but the way that he spoke about the club after the Shoreham disaster, it's brought him closer to the club. I think he has a real affection for us and it's clear he has an excellent record with the Board.

I think that the type and size of club that will come calling him won't sway him to leave.

Why would that be crass? Agree totally.

I think he "fits" well with the club in every way. I get the impression it would take a lot to lure him away, and I don't think - or rather am very confident - that neither Newcastle or Sunderland would be anywhere near.

Somebody else said he might have unfinished business at Newcastle, but the way he was treated would not encourage him to go back. And he now has unfinished business at BHAFC, which seems to be going alright. If we did manage to achieve promotion, why should we not be doing better than Newcastle or Sunderland in a couple of year's time?

Not going to happen, in my view.
He won't go to any other Championship clubs, nor to any in the bottom half of the PL, those in the top half of the PL won't ask him.
One of the more interesting posters on here knows CH and the impression he gives is that CH is in it for the long haul. Given his age and his career history in management he sees B&HA as a platform to be a manager in the PL.
Bloom and the board will be loyal to him, and this will be reciprocated. The more important questions are whether CH gets to realise his goal of managing in the PL again, and when that happens. Three points on Saturday against Bolton, who are hardly in a position of strength on or off the pitch, will go a small way towards helping in the latter.
On this, we've been greatly assisted with the fixtures at the start of the season by playing clubs who are weak or not in the best position. But we've taken advantage of that. We also need to take advantage of that momentum. If you look at forthcoming fixtures, it's only in December where we have a run against a series of top 6/8/10 teams. Before then, there's the possibility of taking advantage of our position, momentum, belief, confidence, etc.

Houghton would be daft to leave. He'll take Brighton up this season.

Christ almighty what's wrong with some people ??? Why such a pessimistic view ? things are going swimmingly and there are people who can't help but look on the downside at something that very probably won't happen .

The speculation is a bit premature. He's a steady Eddie who for some reason does not excite the Premiershi. Teams [i know it's the Premier League]. I'd have thought he'd do well to stay knowing he's pretty much guaranteed a job here for a few years provided we don't go down.

Worth remembering that the delay in him SINGING was because he wanted 3.5 years but the deal on the table was only 2.5 years.

Hopefully they learnt their lesson that they can't just walk in and take our assets, when they wanted Stephens.

I'm sure the ex Real Madrid training cone arranger will be with them a few more weeks anyway.

Hilarious...... LooooooooL

He's too level-headed to go and work for Ashley (swapping TB for Ashley would be a bit of a gamble for anyone). Everything I have seen from him tells me he is here for the long term (here's hoping anyway).
